Howdy,

I am new to MediaPortal and need some help getting it to recognize my DVB-S card. Here are the details....

Area: Media Portal Hardware
MP Version: 0.2 RC2
Skin: Default
Windows Version: WinXP SP2
CPU Type: Intel P4 1.8ghz
Memory: 512mb
Motherboard Chipset: BioStar
Video Card: ATI Radeon 7500, 64mb
Video Card Driver: 8.231.0.0
Video Card Resolution: 1024x768
Video Render Type: VMR9 or Overlay
Video Codec Type & Version: default
Audio Codec Type & Version: default
TV Card: DVB-S, Twinhan 102g, Conexant 878a Chip
TV Card Type: software
TV Card Driver: 2.4.11
Optional Log: parts of the "/log/MediaPortal.log" which show an issue
Optional References: any reference

Synopsis: I can get myTheatre to recognize the card and can view audio/video. When I goto configuration  television  capture cards  I get a message “No video device was found, you won’t be able to configure a capture card.â€

I read posts about BDA drivers, but know how to load them. Also saw reference to a capturcarddefinitions.xml, but again not sure what to do with it..

Thanks

If you check the list of supported cards, then I don't think that your DVB-S card is supported by MediaPortal?

You definitely need to have the BDA drivers installed for your card, anyway - the drivers and installation instructions should be available from Twinhan.

If you want to get it supported, then follow the instructions here.

    thank you for your response.

i thought i saw my card listed (Twinhan VisionDTV DVB-S Conexant 878A). Does this name have to match what i see in device manager? In device manager it is listed as DTV Video Controller and DTV Audio Controller. if i load the bda drivers, my theatre won't work and the device appears as "DVB-TV 878 Digital Tuner Driver" and "DVB-TV 878 Digital Capture Driver"in device manager.

got it working...sort of. here is what i did...

    loaded the BDA drivers
    uninstalled media portal and mytheatre
reinstalled and configured mytheatre and was able to view satellite tv
reinstalled media portal and it detected my DVB-S card!!

now if i could only figure out how to pull up mytheatre from within mediaportal i would be well on my way.

    thanks

Have you run Autotune and successfully found the channels in MediaPortal?

Why do you want to do that? I am not sure I understand where you are heading?

i have run autotone and it pulled down approx 400 channels. i am pointing at 91west. next question is how to decrypt the signal. i can do it with MT, but am looking for a way to do it in MP.

    thanks

    Mr doubleh,

Could you please post your working configuration since I'am also have trouble with the same card working with BDA Drivers with MP and MT.

I would like to know which BDA driver, what version of MediaPortal and MyTheatre works.

Also I would like to know how you were able to scan satellites in Canada since I have been reading posts (such as https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=11398&highlight=echostar ) which explains that there is no way to grab satellites in NA and that they are working on it.

Not true, it seems BDA cards have no issues pulling down NA Satellites, just the SS2 & TT Premium.
Numerous peeps I know of (mostly Canadian) have no issues at all and funily enough they're using Twinhan cards...
