I was using a working MP installation were basically everything was working fine. However, I wanted to set everything up on a clean install (didn't do that the first time, as I was still trying MP and coming from VMC). So, I installed a clean copy of Windows Vista x86. I then:
  • Installed Haali Media splitter
  • Installed the standalone MPCVideoDec.ax (registered it)
  • Switched on the Aero theme
  • In MP config I selected the MPC codec for movies H264
  • Switched to EVR
In my old situation, this worked perfectly. Every HD movie played perfectly. Now, only the WMV extensions will play. When i click a mkv file, simply nothing happens. Btw, the mkv extension is present in the known extension list.

What am I missing? Why is nothing happening. No black screen or anything! MP just stays in the menu and does nothing.

Also, the mkv files play fine in the MPC-HC player in EVR mode.

Ha ha...no I didn't because I couldn't!! Last night the link to SAF was still gone. I just saw that it is back again (version 3.00!). I will try tonight! :)

Aaaah...going slightly mad here. Also with SAF no go. All my files play fine (divx, wmv (HD)etc.) except the mkv's won't start!

The setup is like this:
Clean install windows vista 32
Haali splitter
SAF
MP
configure MP like the SAF config guide.

No go. MP just sits there and does nothing. Very strange as it used to work fine before i did the re-install

Start MP in window. Start some non working video and connect remote graph.
Is graph created correctly?

Second thing - try to add DirectVodSub as postprocessing and try it again.

I have no idea how to do that first bit, but I will try this graphedit program. Maybe a stupid question as I haven't seen the program yet, but what should I connect it to?
