Hi hoborg. I followed the instructions but no graph is drawn. I followed it to the letter, but nothing is happening. I tried numerous mkv's. They do play, but HA is not working.

Is there a way to uninstall SAF to try something?

Try Coreavc as .mkv codec, and directvobsub as subrenderer.
Never failed for me:D

Good luck;)

I have heard that coreavc doesn't support hardware accelration, so that would be the one for me to use.

Thanks, that sounds easy enough. Should I post it here or something for you to look at?

Yes, i will look on it. You can compare your graph with one on first page of SAF thred, should be similar...

I would like to post a graph, but when i follow the guide, nothing is happening in graphedit.

So far I have done the followig:
On a clean install of vista, i installed Haali, then MPC-HC player and registered the MPC-HC standalone version. The installed MP. With this setup, MP doesn't want to play any mkv. I have a feeling that the codec isn't registered properly, allthough a dialog window says it is registered when i do "regsvr32 MPCVideoDec.ax". Is there a way to check this? I thought it was registered okay, as it shows up in MP. I can select it there. The MPC-HC player does a fine job of playing mkv's. HA is working too, as only 5% processor is showing in taskmanager.

I have also done this:
Clean install of vista, haali and SAF 3.01, and MP.
In this case MP is playing mkv's, but it is not using HA. I believe this is because directvobsub is started (in can see it in the taskbar, the green arrow icon). I have read that HA is not working when directvobsub is active.

In both of the above cases I can't get graphedit to draw a graph like shown in the SAF thread. No idea what is going on, but it is very strange to me. This has always worked fine on my old windows vista setup.

If DirectVobSub is loaded = MKV have subtitles inside = no DXVA. You can simply disable DirctVobSub loading durning SAF installation procedure (Enbale MKV subtuitles - click NO), or in Haali - Autoload DirectVobSub to ''no''.
This will disable DirectVobSub and enable DXVA for yours MKVs - if they are DXVA compatible. If you want to uninstall SAF, simply run SAFxxx.exe again.

BTW:
- in Vista, enable EVR and Aero.
- do not use GraphEdit in Vista, it is not compatible. Use GraphStudio instead.

Strange, I have seen no option during install that allowed me to choose subtitles or not (using V3.01). I will try again tonight. You say that it can also be switched off in Haali. Is that also during install?

I have used Graphstudio, sorry I used the wrong name in my question. I can't get graphstudio to make a graph. I can select something in the dialog windows when the video has started in MP, but when I then connect to it, nothing is happening. Do I have to do anything else in Graphstudio to start it making a graph?

Haali:
START - Programs - Haali Media Splitter - Media Splitter settings - Options - Compatibility - Autoload VSFilter set it to "no".
