I had previously used an earlier version and was quite happy but windows 7 messed up and prompted a complete reinstall of the entire HTPC. I thought I had it all working until i tried to play a MKV video file, it failed with a "could not ..... codec : AVC" i tested some other mkv files and these played fine, so, some did and some did not. After hunting around i found the "LAV filters" and installed them, configgured then as per a post i found in the forum. It made no difference. I went back to the Media Portal Configuration, and saw that my changes had not been saved for my codec choices :wtf: I reset them back to LAV and checked again and they were back to default....So i though perhaps LAV Wont work, so changed all the setting the FFDSHOW, just to see what happened, and lo and behold when i exitied coinfig, and went back in, the codec settings were back to their original. All my other settings appear to be have been saved. All movies, picutres, and music folders are still set, it even save the change i made to from BASS to the other player. Just not the Codec/renderer settings... So to sum up. Mediaportal will not save my codec settings in the configuration program.. any body got any ideas why? I am an admin on the pc and the network? uac is turned off, and locked in a small box in the corner, the firewall is diabled, there is not antivirus, antimalware or spyware or malicious software detection software running.. Cheers in advance. Toby [/QUOTE]
