Strange one this. As soon as I boot/load MediaPortal, I can go in, watch TV, play a few videos, listen to music, etc etc. I can keep doing this as long as it is with regularity (watch sequential tv episodes within reasonable time of each other, etc).

However, if i leave it for and extended period after watching something, everything I play will fail with the "Unable to play video (codec/type) xxxxx". This is for every single video/music/whatever. TV also will not start, with a generic "Unable to start timeshifting" for all channels. But if I Alt+F4 out of MediaPortal, and load it straight back up again, its fine. Until the whole process starts again!

Quite annoying if I decide I want to leave it on overnight, as it just needs reloading again in the morning regardless.

Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem, anyone please knows why this happens? Maybe codecs somehow "fall asleep" and how to avoid it?

Attached a log of this happening on my system. Simply put it into sleep mode and left it overnight so it triggered the bug (normally sleep mode works fine, but only if you dont leave it in sleep for too long).

Same effect if you just leave it running doing nothing, but I didn't want to leave it on all night like that just for a log file.

A quick thought - is the network connection going to sleep, maybe loosing it's IP address ?

Is the video card output being turned off by a screensaver (which will also drop HDMI audio, resulting in 'no sound card' problems possibly) ?

Can't be the network/ip issue as it does it both when its on the network and when it isn't (hasn't been networked for a few months now, has no need to be).

Doesn't have a screensaver (just kills the video output after a certain amount of time) so I dont think its that, but i'll keep an eye out anyway.
