ok, I had a little time to fiddle around with Hotmail support and see what can be done.
I easily found the protocol specification on the Net (XML over HTTP) and began coding a few test classes. Now the bad news is that Microsoft charges to use it! Each time I try to connect I get a terse "(402) Payment Required." error message from the Hotmail servers. I googled a bit and found out that only Hotmail Plus and "legacy" (created before mid-2005?) accounts can still be queried, for free, with a third-party software.
I've never used Hotmail before and created my first Homail account only a few minutes ago. I'm a complete Hotmail illiterate so this is new for me.

Thunderbird and its WebMail plugin (AFAICS) are the only third-party programs left with unlimited Hotmail access. Nevertheless the technical solution proposed is fragile and relies on Microsoft's exclusive good will. Not to mention that I doubt this solution is 100% "legal". Internally, the WebMail plugin for Hotmail is a simplified HTTP browser which queries one's Hotmail account, the way the legitimate owner would using Firefox or Internet Explorer.

So my question is: do you really need to read your Hotmail mails within MediaPortal? :D

Well, there is a workaround for the lucky ones with an old account: use a 'Hotmail to POP3 proxy' - e.g. Hotmail Popper - along with MediaPortal. People with a recent Hotmail account will either have to convince me to code something similar to Thunderbird's Webmail plugin, or to resign themself and drop their mailbox ;).

The development is really halted. I simply don't have enough spare time to code for MediaPortal these days. The source is available to anyone willing to take over (send me a PM, I'll then try to comment the main classes). IMAP core procedures are implemented but major features such as 1) GUI, 2) offline synchronization and 3) IMAP caching are still missing.

I hope to resume this work ASAP but don't expect much in the short term.

I was wondering if anyone may help.
I have 2 questions
1) how do i remove emails from My Mail, i remove them from the pop3 server, but there is no delete button in media portal, so the emails remain all the time. how do i get rid of them?

2) how can i make a notification show up on the main screen (and stay there until i check the mail)?

thanks
