My "fresh install" is missing some settings (in particular genre maps) that I would like to import from a previous export. There have been some tuner and channel configuration changes in the ne installation that I don't want to overwrite with old data Can I just delete what I don't want from the export file and import that?

I have only ever tried that with the recording schedule -- deleting all entries but one in order to edit that one and then re-import it. But the recording schedule is entirely user defined and has a variable number of entries.

All you can do is try it. I would suggest that you export your entire existing setup, so that if the import of the modified settings goes wrong, you can re-import your original settings.

Note that there are a few settings that are missing from the export file, and will need to be set manually. I don't remember what they are, I only remember that there are some.

Actually, you just reminded me of how I have handled this in the past: I merged the contents of an old export.xml with a new one to make a complete file containing the old values I needed and the new values I didn't want to change. Why should it matter if the export file is missing some values? I would expect the import process to overwrite but not to delete data.
