I bought one of these: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/rc6-mce-ir-empfänger-receiver-für-mce-mediaportal-und-htpcs-einzeln.84949/

Then I got me a Harmony 900 with the RF system, RF system uses radio so no more pointing remote towards the tv and also close doors to hide computer and all other stuff inside te cupboard :)

In MePo all I did was check "use MCE Remote" and thats all.

In Harmony config program I claimed to have an "MCE-1039" remote and remapped some buttons to where I wanted them.

If need to send button commands and map them to a button add the Microsoft Media Center SE device to Harmony config and map button as needed.

This device controls my amp, tv, dreambox and some other stuff too.

That's what I use and I'm very happy with it.

If you don't have an Ir-receiver until now I would suggest the pulse-eight solution.

    pulse-eight

You can use your TVs remote with MP.
TV is switched on, when htpc starts/comes from S3 and vice versa, ...
The device is supported by Tuomaa's CECRemote plugin

Thanks for the answers. I have Terratec H7 Infrared HID of which I assume it can be used as the IR receiver. I programmed my OneForAll RC as an MCE RC (code 1972). Then I enabled the option "Use MCE remote" in the MP configuration, but the remote doesn't work, nor does "Use general HID device". Probably I am doing something wrong?
