Hi Hoborg, nice of you to look in over here. If you install online videos, the NASA and TedTalks sites are using MP4 streams. I think there may be others, and offbyone can probably give a more complete answer.

One of the things I'm observing is that different splitters seem to use different rules as to what codecs will get put in the graph. Haali seems to always "obey" MP video player settings with respect to MPEG 2 and h.264 decoders (and use merits for MPEG4 Part 2 and other decodes), but the MPC FLV, MPC MP4/MOV and windows AVI splitters seem to follow direct show merits, regardless of how MP is set. For example, if you have an MP4 file with h.264 content and split it with Haali, it will use MP codec settings for h.264 streams, but if you split it with the MPC splitter, it will use the MPC video and audio decoders, (if installed) as they have a very high merit. At least that is my observation. Makes for interesting troubleshooting.... not sure why MP preferences get overridden with certain splitters.

Hi.
Just want to ask if there are a way to force onlive video plugin to use MP4splitter instead of haali if both are installed? Becouse simply uninstalling Haali broke to much, and i thing this is not correct way.

Im am asking becouse i want to found "simplest" way to support online videos by SAF.

    I would like to do that, but I also think this requires to write an Player-Plugin that works just like the internal, but allows to use specific filters. Unfortunately I don't have enough insight on MEdiaPortal to do that at the moment and it looks like a lot of work? If anyone knows how, can help...

    There is also another problem. Webstreams don't always clearly state by the linkname what type they are :(

    Yes I found the same thing. I ended up installing Haali with MP4 support disabled, and then installing the MP4 splitter, but I still haven't got MP4 streams working properly. I just installed 1.0.2 today (very happy), and was going to try uninstallaing all my codecs and starting again.

    There is a serious problem with the MPI installer that several of us have run in to now. Once the installation gets corrupted (which appears to happen if you install a new version over an older copy), there's no way to uninstall it. It remains in the MPInstaller section of the plugin config, and trying to uninstall it from there throws up an invalid install error.

    Meanwhile deleting every file by hand does nothing; it remains in the MPInstaller config, and installing a new version shows a blank list of sites. It would be very helpful to know exactly what files get installed and what gets modified when this plugin is installed because clearly we aren't finding everything.

    So, any news on how to fix this? Reinstall or uninstall/install does not work.

    I am also stuck with a empty list.

    Maybe the solution is just for someone to paste their contents of OnlineVideoSites.xml in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal ? (vista). Right now mine looks like this;
    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <OnlineVideoSites xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
      <Sites />
    </OnlineVideoSites>

    I wish that worked but I have an (older) version on a PC that still works and moving it over does nothing. List still shows as empty, and something will overwrite that file to make it that way. I even tried write-protecting it and the list still showed empty even with the xml file populated.

    This smells like something to do with Vista, UAC, and the whole "hidden" changes thing, where changes written to program files/data are really written to a hidden partition or some such nonesense. I even disabled UAC but that hasn't fixed the problem (though it may prevent it).

    All I know is *something* changed around .8.2 or .8.3 that caused this and now that it's broken nothing short of a complete Mediaportal wipe and reinstall will fix it. I'd rather not do that, and, of course, we shouldn't have to. I haven't experienced this with any other plugins and it's probably due to the fact that this is the only plugin I use that makes use of the mpi method.

    So in short there's still a (bad) problem and no way to fix it, as of yet.

    No vista UAC thing because I experience the same thing on XP SP3. I also copied the old OnlineVideoSites.xml I had from an older version (0.6 or something) because it was empty (well not empty, just no sites in there) after install.

    ---EDIT---

    On my other HTPC (server/client setup) it does work! Not sure what's up. That one did not have an empty OnlineVideoSites.xml after install. Copied that one to the problematic PC and still no go.

    Here is the working version of the xml file.
    If you get an empty one after copying this one in tjhe correct folder, please check the Logfiles of the Configuration.exe for a error!

    Exactly the same file as I have on my working PC (see edit previous post of mine) and did not resolve it for me.

    If it helps, I checked the properties of this file and it said something to the extend of;
    "This file came from another computer and therefore might be blocked" it had an option to unblock it, did that, no change though (I actually never seen that warning before in XP). This happened with your file but also with the file I copied from my working HTPC

    If you need me to provide any more debugging info don't be shy. The 2 systems (HTPC and HTPC server/client) are pretty similair on the OS basis. On hardware / software basis quite different of course.
    I'm kinda clueless why this happens, I checked permissions, they are fine. I think it has to be something in the plugin.
    I haven't used this plug for a while because I constantly had issues with different versions of the google api causing conflicts (I use a couple more plugs which rely on google api)

    p.s.

    I tested in 2 skins, monochrome and blue3wide (which I had installed with the plugin), that's my desktop.
    on my aMPed (skin) machine I have it working beautifuly
