saf is to much work to setup What???
First major drawback is that you need to uninstall PDVD 7. That is not an option at all if I want to play HD DVD and Bluray disks. If you use subtitles as *.srt or inside MKV's i guess it's not a winning concept either?
Apart from that it's probably a good package. I know you have done a lot of work on that package, hoborg, and many people are using it. :)

Not if you don't want DXVA on Mpeg 2, which is not that necessary anyway. Most of the things Hoborg puts in the instructions are to correct "mis-configurations" and provide information.

BTW, I used to use CCCP. It didn't work with MP4 streams when I last used it. Don't get me wrong, CCCP is a good pack, but it was not designed for DXVA or MediaPortal. I'd rather use a codec set that is common, provides HA, and has this community's best interests at heart. SAF meets those criteria. Case in point is the time Hoborg spent getting SAF to work with online videos in the first place, and the time he is now spending getting HD TV working properly.

Bottom line is, if you do have a problem, you're more likely to get help in here with SAF than you are with CCCP.

Anyway, this is all getting a bit offtopic.

Yes, you need to unsinstall old PDVD 7, 8, and older, but you can use SAF + PDVD9.
SAF now support h.264 TV (PM if you are interested how) and thanks to PDVD9 you can play your HD DVD and Bluray disks too.
