Thats cool, I could use the remote, its an MCE remote, i don't appear to be able to move around easily though, unless I could get it to overtake the mouse when MP is not running, then i'd just have to conquor exiting MP

I meant remote desktop access, using something like ultraVNC to configure your HTPC from another PC (laptop, desktop, whatever)

Please elaborate on your suggestion.

"2. I have a pretty big request / suggestion. I have a fairly extensive collection of episodes, and due to wifely constraints, i have been forced to back up episodes over time. I therefore currently have about 1.2tB on my server and another 800-900gigs on DVD. What i would really like, is if i could manually add Series/seasons/episodes to the database (perhaps using a search function for series with info on the online database) that reflect in the menu (perhaps with a * next to them in MP to identify that they are backed up) Then, when that item is selected in Media Portal, it pops up and says Please insert Disc X (where X is the name of the DVD where you have dumped the avi for that particular ep... perhaps this dvd name should be added in manually as a criteria when you add the backed up items manually in the configuration) You can then put the disc in and browse to the item you are looking for. This would be better than trying to Parse DVDs caus, lets be honest, no-one is going to parse 200+ DVDs. I am sure plenty of people have episodes backed up to dvd or cd and this would be hugely helpfull."

Does that make sense? Basically, i want to be able to add series/eps to the database that arent physically on my drive. Whilst adding series/eps, i want to be able to enter in the location (Eg: TV EP DVD 115). Then, when an episode is selected in Media Portal that is not physically on my drives but is on a dvd, i would like it to pop up and ask for the disc (IE: "Please insert TV EP DVD 115") and then let you browse your dvd/cd drives where you can select the episode you want. Let me know if you need clarification from my side.

With regards to the double episodes, is it not perhaps best for the people to update the online database themselves to match the double ep details (IE: Stargate Atlantes - 1X01-02 - "Both episode names") rather than trying to code it? I know i have a bunch of double eps but it doesnt phase me enough to request dev time from you when i can just update the online database myself.

hmm.. i don't have a red button on my controller. i do have a red "record" button and yes it's an MCE remote. What's the keyboard key for this and i'll just map it to a different key
that's because you probably have the USA MCE RC version which i think the 4 colored buttons at the bottom Red, Green, Yellow, Blue is the difference between the EU MCE and USA MCE. Not sure tho.

Is there going to be a way eventually to run a scan and configure it from within media portal, its just I have no keyboard or mouse on my system, and this would be very useful to have. It would save having to plug them in to sort it all out...
after the initial configuration i see no reason of even want to use the MP configuration. even if you add new series/seasons/episodes the MP-TVSeries is more than capable of handling them and auto scanning and importing them to your database automatically at the background without even noticing. I don't even use the manual scan. Just set the auto scan to X minutes and that will take care of new series/season/episodes addition.

Why don't you propose a way to handle those?
1) I don't know how the local parser could even be sure a local file is double or not
2) one local file could point to 2 different online episodes (given TVDB doesn't make double episodes). so I would have to ditch the current episode DB tables to find another way to link everything.

Huge work to be done, for such a tiny feature...

zeflash,

here is what I propose (and the way it was implemented in the old version of TV Series):

For example, Stargate SG1 opened their first season with a double episode. Children of God part 1 and 2. I have named my single file like this: stargate.sg1.s01e01,02.children.of.the.god.avi As you can see, I chose the delimeter to be a comma between the episode numbers, however this should be configurable in the plugin. It is my understanding from an earlier post, that the old tool created two entries into the database where it found the set delimiter in the filename. Thus it was possible to download episode information for each part from - at the time - episodeworld.com
Having said that, I am not sure that this is just a tiny feature. Remembering the discussions we had in the old forum thread and the many times it was mentioned early on in this thread I get the impression that a lot of people would like to have this feature.

Thanks very much for your efforts!

Yes - I agree. I name my episodes:

Series Name [1x01-02] Episode.Ext

So, the '-' would be the delimiter in my case.

Thanks!

I think I found another bug, maybe this is just me, but when in the menu of the plugin when you press the volume up button, it automagically selects the field thats focussed.

Could someone try this and confirm?

Also, about selecting the fullscreen when constantly pushing left, is there anyone that knows how to fix this?
