This annoying error comes up when media portal starts when the skin is brand new. Is there any way to turn this off or make MP realize that the skin is brand new? It stinks because you cannot select "ignore" with MCE remote...it requires a mouse! thanks!

    Hi,
you can change the reference.xml within the skin directory. Within the first five Lines is a Version number. Change this to your MP Version and this info is gone.

I agree it's anoying. There should always be the option to "never show this again".
Plus, I can't see (and thus can't click on it) it thrue VNC. This is anoying to.

I do understand that people must be aware of the problems a outdated skin can cause withing MP.

Hm, i had this at least two days ago and the click trough VNC wasn´t a problem. I am using an old version of VNC from 2005 or something like that. Maybe thats the point?

'The currently selected skin is outdated' 0.2.3.0 issue

I didn't upgrade, I removed MP completely including all folders and installed a fresh copy of 0.2.3.0

I have 3 skins installed, Blue two Wide, Foofaraw and Xface. All skins say '0.2.3.0' for version.

I have removed all skins but BTW and it still gives the error.

I have even tried reinstalling both skins again.

~ Here was the silly fix!

Since I have a widescreen TV, I removed the BlueTwo skins folder and kept the BlueTwo Wide folder. Replacing the regular BlueTwo folder fixed the issue. In a pich you could even copy your 'wide' folder and rename it 'BlueTwo'.

Apparently it is searching for that folder and when it doesn't find it, it throws an error.

I had exactly that happen yesterday. Got the "skin outdated" message on any skin I tried. Very annoying because that means the machine cannot start up without using the keyboard

Ron thank you so much for posting the fix. That saved me a lot of gray hairs. I too had cleaned up the Blue Two 4:3 skin that I don't use anyway ...
