Pauses during video playback (1 Viewer)

Hi folks,

Firstly: Thanks for mediaportal!

My issue:
I'm getting some pauses in playback of xvid and divx files - watching live tv is fine.

This happens about every 10 minutes, basically I am watching something, and then the pause occurs, lasts around 10 seconds while the sound continues, and then the video jumps and catches up. This is pretty annoying, cos I miss stuff and then have to rewind.

So I am using the ffdshow tryouts codecs that were installed, and I have a fairly hefty machine so I wouldn't think it's a processing power issue.

My suspected culprits are ffdshow (although I really want to use it for postprocessing at some point, so I'd hate to throw it out) or some kind of throughput issue? But I don't really know what would be causing that.

Are there any suggestions on things I could try?

Check to be sure you have the most current version of ffdshow, as of this post, it can be found here.

Try disabling all screensaver and power saving functions in windows. It may be that the computer is trying to blank the screen or turn on the screensaver and then MP fights with it to not and causes the video to hang for a few seconds.
