The Hauppauge HVR 900 (analog/DVB-T -I'm using it as DVB-T only-) doesn't work well after hibernation, it stutters badly. And I don't see new drivers or fixes coming, so I'm looking to replace this with an USB tuner that works well (my HTPC has the only PCI slot used with the PVR 350).

This Pinnacle tuner looks good and it has dual DVB-T tuners. But since I got burned by other Pinnacle products before, I'm looking for some feedback from users who are usgin this tuner (link here). Of course the only thing that I will install is the driver, no way I'm going to install any other Pinnacle software, I learned the lesson. It will be used from Media Portal exclusively.

Now, is it good? Internal aerials are good enough (I'm using the internal aerial of the HVR 900, which is bigger)? Does it work after hibernating with MP running in the Home screen (TV off)?

    Thanks

Download PVR-scheduler, that solves a lot of hibernation problems, especially if you shut MP down and restart it after doing a standby and the problem goes.

    Hi,

I've bought the PCTV Dual DVB-T Diversity Stick (asked to give an impression) - sorry but not so far tested ... I've test the card with Pinnacle software, running !

I've tried with TV server engine (MP), not running ... But only tried once, no time at present time, will post later tests ...

Thanks for posting, yeti. I wouldn't spend any time with Pinnacle software. It's buggy as hell and support is bad. I would completely uninstall all Pinnacle software and use Media Portal only. I started using Media Portal after fighting with Pinnacle's Media Center...

Paranoid Delusion, I've used PVR Scheduler in the past. Maybe it's time to install it again.

    Hi,

Same for me, I want to use MP only. But to test the card, I've installed the Pinnacle software - at present time, no DVb_T reception at my home :-(

When tried with MP, I've received error messages when trying to connect to TV channels (but seen in forum that others having same problem with other cards). So, I've to test again in MP (TV server), but for the moment, no time ...

Since your time is limited it's better to go with Media Portal 0.2.1.0 which is a lot more stable than the TV Server.

Thanks for the advice. I'm using as 'production' the 0.2.0.4 (to see my movies) on my HTPC. I've installed night builds only on a dev computer. But the USB stick is not recognized on 'normal' builds at present time :-(.

if your TV tuner isn't recognized by MP 0.2.1.0 you have two choices:

    • Uninstall, install 0.2.0.0 and then recent SVN (if the most recent SVN doesn't support it you will have to ask for your tuner to be added, there is a thread explaining what information is required),
    • OR if you already have an SVN that worls with your TV tuner (not using the TV server), there is a file called CaptureCardDefinitions.xml that you can use on 0.2.1.0 to update the list of supported TV tuners (I guess this should work).

As far as I understand, my tuner should work (or can work) with 0.2.1.0 ? (I've only check with 0.2.0.4, and nothing is shown ...

    Does it work?

I'm interested in buying the Pinnacle Dual DVB-T Diversity Stick, but having been caught out :( with another tuner (Hauppauge Nova-T 500), so I'm a bit wary of buying another piece of rubbish!!

So have any of you guys tested it yet? Does it work?

    Thanks in anticipation.
