Everyone who is having slow GUI rendering (fps) when a dialog is open could you try following core.dll? Its based on SVN 19574.
It's slightly better. I tested it on my own system just now. Instead of ~8.5 FPS with the normal Core.dll of SVN 19574 when a dialogue window is open (MiniEPG) I get 15 FPS with this new Core.dll.

Tried the new dll. Mediaportal is crashing if I zap from a MPEG2 to an H264-channel with this core.dll. Every time.

The old core.dll (from 22.6.2008) runs fine.

Thats pretty obvious as the core.dll versions arent 100% compatible. Does the dialogs work any better (assuming that they work at all on the SVN + core.dll combination)?

How about other dialogs? Here the fix works for all dialogs. FPS is always the 50 what is selected.

Ah, every other dialogue works perfectly now :). I'll list the different FPS here again:
    • context menu of recordings - old: 15 FPS, new: 60 FPS
    • extended recording - old: 15 FPS, new : 60 FPS
    • context menu of the TV Guide - old: 15 FPS, new: 60 FPS
    • Mini EPG - old: 8.5 FPS, new: 15 FPS

60 FPS is what I configured in the MP settings. This is my system (E6600@3.2,2GB RAM,x1950Pro), I couldn't test it yet on the HTPC, which had only around 6 FPS with the Mini EPG (when no video is active).

Hm... is it a coincidence, that the other overlay menus had 15 FPS before with the old Core.dll, and the Mini EPG has 15 FPS now with the new Core.dll?

I can confirm those values from Spooky. However why is the Mini EPG still so slow (fps)?

EDIT: As I wrote, the Gui slows down instantly if you play a video (normal divx-file) with 25fps - even if you set the gui to 50fps.

Thats a different issue and nothing that can be easialy done to prevent it. When video playback is active the GUI must be currently rendered on the same speed as the video itself. Most propably that will stay like it for MP1.

Indeed. But why is MediaPortal able to render the GUI at stable 50 FPS when a video is played (or 25 FPS or whatever the video currently has), even when overlays are shown like the Mini EPG?

Because its not a performance issue we are seeing here. Seems that both dialog and mini EPG code were using really ugly way for frame rate limiting.

Here are new core.dll & tvplugin.dll (TVE3). Hopefully the MiniEPG issue is also solved with these.

Awesome, everything is very smooth now on my system, including high FPS when viewing the MiniEPG :). Thank you very much!
