Is it possible to start listening music or watch video from remote on a PC?

Idea - music and video are stored on NAS server - Tablet (iPad) or SmartPhone are used as remote control to start music/video on remote PC
or
listen or watch music/video directly on Tablet (iPad) or SmartPhone

thanks for sugestions

By 'remote PC' I assume you mean MePo client, then look at WiFi Remote.

Playing content from server, need a MP Extended Service & MP WebMedia Portal (assuming you want a web interface).

If you simply want Music, the xpTunes pluging is light weight, offers PC [via widget] control of MP Client music, so playing on the client system/TV hook up.

All 3 setup's perfectly possible, tried them - not together however, had no need:->

    Cheers - JCMP.

Yes, as JimCat mentioned you can do both.

You can use another device to control MP and tell it to play music/videos like a remote control,
and you can also use another device to stream (play) music / videos from MP onto the device.
(If MP has the NAS files in it's database then it can stream from NAS to remote device)

Remote PC - Webmediaportal (requires MPExtended plugin)
Android phone/tablet - Webmediaportal (requires MPEXtended) or Ampdroid (requires MPExtended and WifiRemote plugins)
iOS phone/tablet - Webmediaportal (requires MPExtended plugin) or CouchPotato (requires WifiRemote plugin) or iPIMP

Installed WebExtension and tried - no music no videos shown in web interface - music added to default playlist on media portal server...
No config guide found...to complex for not IT entusiasts....
Media Portal server is not playing simple H.264 coded movies - need to activate external call of windows media player...

You need to install MPExtender plugin as Kiwijunglist states - the Web Extention is interface that. The MPExternder will then user you existing databases (video, music, TV service if you have full TVServer on your machine) to provide the data sets, then stream the requested content voa web interface to your remote device.

Guide on Wiki, but agree, somewhat complex.

MP not playing movies - you need to provide more info - almost certainly a codec issue, can you provide more info and logs of setup.

    Cheers - JCMP

Installed all as found on install guide (IIS Express, MPExtender, Web Extension...) - not displaying any music...
Web Extention crashes with jQ...Skin Web 500 Error!!!

Movies: Simple H.264 coded movies - displays AVC AAC LC not supported... -> config -> video -> player -> external: entered windows media player... and it works - but can't be a solution

Web Extention is to slow for any real usage!

I will delete all installation of Media Portal

As a hint: Don't use to many abbreviations from Media Portal projects - that make find the real stuff not easier!!!
