Play rars without extracting / no epg / other questions (1 Viewer)

Hey

I'm experimenting with mediaportal because I would like to have everything in one program instead of 2.
Currently me setup is xbmc + dvbviewer. I'm pretty sure that MP can do the same as dvbviewer, but I have a hard time getting MP do as xbmc. I miss functions like:

1. When searching for video information it will use the folder name instead of the video name
2. cleaning video names, sometimes there are a lot of text after the movie name, it could be nice if you didn't need to remove that yourself
3. Playing rar files without extracting them

Currently there are no epg data, maybe the program has to be open for some time for that to come, I don't know. Or what am I doing wrong.

My tuner is a technisat cablestar hd 2.

Hi,

to 2.) use MovingPictures Plugin and TVSeries, you don't have to rename or such stuff anymore
to 3.) look here

the EPG grabber is active while MP is idle or timeshifting (look in the TVServer configuration)

I got the epg to work, but the movingPictures plugin only detects the movies that are not packed in rar files.

You have to add the rar file extension in MP Configuration

Now I have enabled rarmount but it doesn't help. Neither Movingpictures or MP itself can see the movies.

Now I'm in doubt. What do you mean, how do I do that?

Edit: I have added .zip and .rar ind video extensions. Now MP sees one rar file for each movie, but it cannot play them.

Edit: I tried to add .r31 then a part of the movie played. But that doesn't help much

ok, you don't add .r31 for example the .rar is ok.

I don't use rarmount to play rar files on my machine. I'm using a directshow filter RARFileSource

You should ask in the rar mount forum how to setup rarmount for MP correctly.

your welcome, if you run in trouble to run big files with a 64 bit system, let me know I did a fix on the source code and recompiled it.
