    Hi guys,like armandp said i think is better to post all our codecs and filters related issues in a proper forum thread so My Trailers thread remain clean...

    As i stated before in the plugin thread there are several ways to make the plugin work with the internal MP player so here are my findings about the filters related issues so far:

    1)If you are trying to use the plugin with a codec pack installed you will have to be lucky because the most of time will not work and i found this to be a bad choise(believe me that i uninstalled the codec packs on some of my friend systems and now my trailers is working,local play too)

    2)If you have nero codecs installed this is a bad thing too...because nero somehow setup his MP4 splitter with a high merit so is overriding halli media splitter merits and haali is the best (nero might play some .mov files but not all because of the containers used with the apple trailers).So if you can't uninstal nero or either you don't want to,try at least to lower his MP4 SPLITTER merits with Filmerit.

    3)You don't need QT alternative installed or any other QT stuff to make the plugin work if you are using the good codecs-filters combination.

    4)Don't try to bypass the codec pack uninstall by trying to install the latest filters over,this will not work either...

    So here are all the codecs and filter that i'm using now and i found it's best for playing both local and streaming .MOV files:

    +CoreAVC 1.70 (it comes with haali media splitter too so use this one ik you want,if not download haali media splitter standalone pack)

    +Haali Media Splitter (use the latest version avaible,and when installing let everything checked in the configuration screen and check the AVI option too)

    +FFDshow (i've tested with the version from 11-08-2008,make sure H264 is enabled inside the FFDshow Video configuration)

    +AC3 filter (this is needed i case you don't want to use FFDshow Audio Filter or for some reason you can't make FFdshow Audio Filter to work)

    Always REMEMBER to UNINSTALL all you previous versions or codec packs and eventualy CLEAN the registry too before installing this filters

    With the above filters you can make My trailers work but this filters will work even for normal MediaPortal use like playing Videos and TV,but in this case you should add the following filters too:

    +Vsf filter AKA DirectVobSub for subtitles
    +Xvid Decoder

    I'm using this configuration with both XP SP3 And Vista Sp1 with no issues.BTW if for some reason you want Cyberlink codecs you can install it too because already tested and it's not breaking anything.

    Hope this will help you guys...Later i will post some links and screenshots

    Why enable H264 if you're using CoreAVC? That way the FFDShow H264 decoder is used instead off the CoreAVC's decoder

    I'm gonna uninstall/disable the Nero codecs tonight.. see if it works :)

    I've found that FFDshow work smooth with haali media splitter,atleast for my trailers plugin.I've decided to include CoreAVc in this thread most because it's the best for watching HD content without hardware acceleration,and if installed on your system MP users can use it for Movies and HDTV too.

    Why install xvid as well, when FFDshow does it already?

    As you can see xvid it has nothing to do with the my trailers playback and it's only for movie playback.And it's included in this thread because a lot of people could have filters merits messed up already.And it's usefull for encoding stuff too,but if don't like it don't install it and my trailers will still work.

    Seems like QT-alternative uses the Nero-quicktime codec as well.

    tonight I'm gonna uninstall all codecs and use the MPC codecs.. See if that works.. :)

    OK, I finally got the MyTrailer plugin working without VLC

    This is what I did.

    previous codec installation
    - FFDShow
    - AC3Filter
    - CoreAVC 1.7 + HAAII mediasplitter
    - Powerdvd 8
    - QT alternative / quicktime (Tried both)
    - Nero 8
    - Xvid

    REBOOT

    2) Clean registry
    3) Install new codecs
    New Codecs
    * CoreAVC 1.7 (Set preferred checkbox)
    * Haali Mediasplitter
    * MPC Video Decoder
    * AC3Filter 1.46 (S/PDIF -> AS IS)
    * CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD8)
    * DirectShow VobSub 2.37

    REBOOT

    4) Set merit of these codecs to Preferred with FilMerit
    6) Set movies codecs in MP (Movies -> Player)
    - MPEG: CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD8)
    - H264: CoreAVC 1.7
    - AUDIO: SPDIF (AC3Filter)
    6) Set the DirectShow properties
    MPA:

    Check with graphEdit or GSPot if the right codecs are used with different file types..
    For example:
    - Gladiator HD -> CoreAvC
    - Apple Trailer -> MPC
    etc

    This did the trick for me :D
