Very happily using Media portal, very helpful tool indeed.

i'm using my old computer as a media center connected to the TV, and the computer is connected to the internet through a bridge connection. it goes modem->router->my new pc->my old pc (media center)

i want to play files that are on my new pc because my old pc has only 40GB.
So my question is how do i play files that are on shared folders, i can't seem to access them through menus.
maybe via adding FTP folder?, tried and didnt work.

Thanks in advance!

MediaPortal Version: Latest downloaded from this site: V0.2.3.0
MediaPortal Skin: BlueTwo
Windows Version: WINDOWS XP
CPU Type: Intel Pentium 4
HDD: Westren digital 40GB
Memory: 756MB
Motherboard: MSI
Motherboard Chipset: Intel
Video Card: Geforce 4 (old one)

enough details.

It should just work. In the MP configuration app, just use the browse button in the video folders section to find the shared drives.
If they don't show, then it's possible that the share isn't set up properly.
Using windows explorer, can you navigate there? If so, then copy the address and paste it in the section in MP config.

Yep, i can navigate there with no problem.
The thing is that it's not a shared drive, it's a shared folder.
    The address is like: \\mynewpc\sharedfolder

hey works great sorry for the trouble
i was just a bit mislead because the label reads: "Local folder"

    Thanks anyway!
