    Hi there,

I'm having some problemsplaying h.264 files (*.mov) from within MP. When I open the same file (Batman begins h.264, 1080p) with Nero Showtime, it works without problems.

When I try to open the file from within MP, nothing happens and I get this in the error log:

    2006-11-18 19:13:40.031250 [ERROR][MPMain]: PlaylistPlayer: *** unable to play - D:\Movies\batman_begins_1080p.mov - skipping track!

Any suggestions what the reason could be?

    Thanks, Michael

Okay: Stating the search would help other users more (although it is not difficult to guess ;-) )

    Thanks Okay!

I already did a search on the forum. But all the solutions I could find were based on ffdshow or coreAVC. The problem is: none of these two supports DXVA acceleration with my NVidia 6600.

Is there no way to get it work with the Nero Codec?

    Thanks again,

    Michael

sorry none, Nero codecs are locked on outside the Showtime program (blame Nero).
But if your movies are some kind of H.264 streams bundled up in an Apple container then you may first try to deinstall any of your genuine Apple packages and then find both an AVC DirectShow codec, compatible with DxVA or PureVideo, and a DirectShow codec that can parse MOV containers. See the wiki pages for further help.
For instance you could install QuickTimeAlternative (uncheck CoreAVC for installation) and either the latest Cyberlink or Intervideo H.264 specific codec.

    Thanks a lot!

Now I found it in the wiki - was just too blind... (perhaps it shoud be added something like "THIS CODEC DOES NOT WORK WITH MP" for people like me...)
I'll try it with the cyberlink codec when I come home in some days.

This looks like an answer for what I am trying to do. Hopefully I can find the latest Cyberlink Codec for H.264 , and then that would work.

    We will see.
