In my win7 running Aero...if I right click desktop....personalize>display>custom text size there is a ruler you slide... it goes all the way to 500% lol... He set it at 172... and check marked the display as XP font size style check mark... then he went into Personalization>Window Color and Appearance and set my fonts to segu semi bold and made some of them a larger size there,, he also set the border padding different.. the coolest thing is he increased the thumnail sizes in windows it self for when I want to brows my media in explorer for maintanence. all looks great everywhere and MP running Streamed looks fine I just wanted to know why the error message in config?? I have been ingnoring the message as it all looks fine but do not want to break my install

I am talking about this :: option here ::
The other DPI/fontsize options I'd leave alone because you can break your entire GUI very easiely with those options.

In Win(XP), a "too high" DPI can result in a blackscreen/no GUI at all. Hence that message.

All i know is that is where he did it, and all my programs even PSD run fine in it,, and i can SEE WINDOWS FROM MY COUCH. but just worried, will it break MP after a while it is running great right now and i set the skin rez to 1920x I have the stream skin configured and running and all appears well.. movies, iso play, music tv so forth.. but when MP warns me I wonder if I have a ticking time bomb? I think I'll set up another user at 125% also just in case this one crashes

ok I sure wish I could write code.... so mabe this idea - question can spur a fix or mabe I am just not understanding.. I have many other programs and some games where they need to run at a cirtain resolution/.. so when they boot they tell the video drivers to switch rez... the screen blinks for a fast milisecond then they boot... why cannot media portal have the player do that ?? but instead of going smaller rez like the games.. it goes to the rez the user sets inside for thier display.. ei... 720 or 1080??? I'm not trying to be difficut, I'm just currious as to why it does not when games do? I know it would probly have to then let media player --unwrap from meda portal for the display but ???

Actually you could achieve something like that with presets for instance, if you have an ATi GPU. You can create a Preset that turns your screen resolution to 1280x720 for example and then another preset that turns your screen to 1920x1080. Additionally you can configure, that the second preset automatically starts MediaPortal (or may be it even works the other way around, i.e. if you start MediaPortal, the proper Preset is automatically invoked by the Catalyst Control Center, but I am not sure it works that way, haven't tried it).

crunch01, you are right, it would be useful for you, if you could define the resolution MediaPortal uses. However, MediaPortal is designed to be run as a 'Front-End' for everything you do on your TV. In most cases, people do not use Windows "regularly" on their TV as well. At least that's the idea ;).

Thnx Spooky... hmmmm your cookies are starting to make me hungry!;)

well I have a NVidia and it also will do profiles so great idea for now..:D I'll create a 1920x1080P profile for my MP and a lower one for windows so it will display bigger as I use it to brows the web and play computer game's (addicted to combat flight sims and fps).. lol you see my MAIN X8 64 gig ram puter.. is a graphics work station running Maya and 3d max.. and Photoshop... with a few music studio softwares too..
I am setting this little puter up for all my entertainment on the large screen in the living room.

what I did yesterday was set up a different user to log onto for media portal at 100% 1920x1080.. to solve the font percentage troubles with it

you know that rez swithing would not be a bad thing for them to implement in the next build.. lol
