The database connection configuration file (gentle.config) on the client is corrupted, probably because of 4 "unexpected shutdowns" on 22 September 7:15 AM - 10:45 AM. Example from the Windows system event log:
    "9/22/2016 10:38:14 AM";"EventLog";"(0)";"Error";"The previous system shutdown at 10:34:54 AM on ‎9/‎22/‎2016 was unexpected.";"2147489656"
    "9/22/2016 10:38:14 AM";"EventLog";"(0)";"Information";"Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 6.01. 7601 Service Pack 1 Multiprocessor Free.";"2147489657"
    "9/22/2016 10:38:14 AM";"EventLog";"(0)";"Information";"The Event log service was started.";"2147489653"
    "9/22/2016 10:38:14 AM";"EventLog";"(0)";"Information";"The system uptime is 14 seconds.";"2147489661"
"9/22/2016 10:38:05 AM";"Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power";"(63)";"0";"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.";"41"

    To fix:
    1. Close MediaPortal and MediaPortal Configuration.
    2. Open Windows/File Explorer.
    3. Go to c:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server.
    4. Copy (CTRL + C) the gentle.config file.
    5. Go to c:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal.
    6. Paste (CTRL + V) the gentle.config file (yes, replace the existing corrupt one).
...and always shutdown the computer properly. ;)

If you try to view TV again it should work now.

I know this old, but it fixed the same issue was having in version 1.11 after a hard lockup on my computer. First time this has happened to me in the 9 years I've been running MP.

I think it was mentioned earlier, but I will again. At least in Windows 8 the desired folders are now under "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\"
