some time after i last updated onlinevideos, i noticed that some of my videos wouldn't play well. i realized it was HD videos, and they weren't playing with DXVA acceleration as the CPU was maxed out during playback. these videos used to play perfectly with DXVA acceleration.

after a lot of messing around, i discovered it was installing the LAVfilters as a part of updating onlinevideos that caused the problem. after i removed them, the DXVA acceleration returned.

i recently noticed the problem happening again. then i realized i updated onlinevideos plugin again last week. sure enough, LAVfilters are installed on my system.

please stop including this. i didn't ask for it, my HTPC is old but works well because i keep it well-tuned with codecs which i know work. it seems now that every time i update onlinevideos, i am forced to install new codecs without it even telling me, and it breaks my media centre. please at least allow the option to disable this.

    Hi.
Did you ever try to enable DXVA in LAVF settings? In next versions of MP LAVF will be included as default codecs for all kind of videos. No other codec is that wide usable as LAVF. If you own an Intel or NVidia GPU you can make use of their special features (Quick Sync, CUDA) aside "normal" DXVA also. So it's definitely worth a look.

The filters are optional to install, you need to untick the box when presented with the tree while installing Onlinevideos. You probably pressed update and didn't get a choice which is a fault of the MP installer IMHO. Simply press uninstall and afterwards install and you can chose not to install LAV. The next version will have the LAV option unticked by default.
On a side note: i'm sure the install of LAV did not break your DXVA, you might simply have to enable it in lav or remove them and all will be as before.

I noticed when ever you do an update on LAV filters it resets all your settings; so HW acceleration is always disabled after an update/install.

Also explains the mystery of why I ended up with two instances of it under the MP extension installer :)
