plugin for launching an external program (1 Viewer)

Is there any plugin or way to launch an external program like say fusion hdtv or mytheatre?....neither one of my tuner cards is recognized by the internal tv app...and I would like to be able to launch my third party apps and not have the remote still controlling media portail underneath them....I hope this made sense..thanks

Based on the comments on that page, it doesn't work with newer MP versions.
What's wrong with MP's built-in "My Programs" plugin for this purpose?
