Poor coverart quality (1 Viewer)

You should clarify the "it" that has been fixed. Star Wars still looks the same using today's SVN. And the original poster said:
...I rescanned it and again was presented with all the poor resolution images. When I looked in the thumbnails folder, I saw there was a small and large image for each movie, but the large one looks to be a scaled up version of the smaller one.

And that's still true in the latest SVN. That's because, for example, Media Portal starts with this IMDB image for Star Wars:

http://ia.imdb.com/media/imdb/01/I/54/42/42m.jpg

And then of course it has to scale it up for the big thumbnail. (It also has to scale it up for the small thumbnail!) And then we are too lazy to go through and pick higher resolution cover art for all 200 of our movies, especially because on our hard drives we already have much higher quality cover art than the best MediaPortal can access (possibly downloaded by Vista Media Center or MyMovies.)

Well, I use the new http://www.gaz1.com/movdb/ parser for MyVideos, and no problem with cover quality on it.
Dukus is actively working on imdb grabber, so if you drop him a word he may be able to fix the problem you are encountering.

By the way, those thumbnail settings you mentioned apply to My Music coverart as far I know, not to My Videos.

I assume by "anims" you mean reflections of the film strip (click on Star Wars cover in post above). I am using a recent SVN with the SpinSafe Revolve skin.

Haven't checked back in a while and just noticed there was an item in the changelog re. fixing this issue. Installed the latest SVN but no luck - still poor res images until I manually change them.

I reinstalled with the latest svn last night, for a different reason, and there's definately no change to the movie pictures.

This is insane, surely the dev team can quick-fix this? Hi-def is everything these days and MediaPortal DOES pull the hi-res art in if it's done manually so why is THAT code not used in the automated IMDB scanning?

Come on Frodo, how many 'customers' is this losing you without you knowing it?

    Regards,

    A concerned citizen

P.S. Noidion: I had the same thing happen when i only had 20 movies. I now keep a backup of my hi-res Thumbs\Videos directory for when i rebuild MP.

Not only that but I 'lock' the coverart by making them all read-only on the live MP install. That way if I want to refresh the IMDB info or do a full rescan of the video db it doesn't nerf my shiny hi-res ones!
(downside is you can't browse alternatives, but if you take the read-only attribute off in explorer you can)
