Hi all.
I realize Dvd playback is an on-going issue so bare with me if my topic has been discussed before.
After some research for the best DVD codec for MP, in lite of inconsistency (some DVD Play, others show black screen with sound etc' ) I opted for power DVD.
I tried versions 8,9 both worked, that is to say I did get a picture, however, playback was stuttering (playing catch ups)...
When playing on power DVD's dedicated player I have had no problems, as of course with VLC which seem to play anything you throw at it with no fuss (but we want to use MediaPortal don't we..?)
Any clue?

I have big problems playing DVDs too. I haven't found a reliable codec for DVD. So far I have tried:

1) latest PDVD9 - is smooth only when DXVA is enabled, but then I have navigation issues. If it is off, the deinterlacing is very poor
2) MPC-HC - is smooth but I have navigation issues
3) Microsoft MPEG2 - image is flickering
4) ffdshow - image is flickering / deinterlacing is poor in both HW and SW deinterlacing (any method)

I do not understand, why HW deinterlacing in ffdshow is poor, when my graphic card is able to do vector adaptive deinterlacing - which works great for PDVD9 and DXVA.

I have: HD 4550, 780G Mobo, Athlon BE2400 (dualcore), Realtek SPDIF
Vista+Aero, EVR, Catalyst 9.1, AMD dual-core optimizer
MP 1.0.2

If there is no workaround, I'll have no other chance to change to other software, even I'm happy with the MP features.

No, I use microsoft navigator - as it works better in MP (when starting a movie, with PDVD navigator I cannot return to previous position - it will always start from beginning)

I'll give it a try.

only AC3 and FFDSHOW - as these two are only usable for SPDIF passthrough.

The main problem is the quality of deinterlacing. What I have tried, only PDVD with DXVA is watchable. The deinterlacing of other codecs is poor or unreliable.
