In the last few days I've upgraded from MP 1.0.2 to MP 1.1 RC4. I am very happy with the new version overall. My only problem is the the Power Scheduler plugin.

Please find attached screenshots of my setting in the power scheduler plugins (tv server and client).

With MP 1.0.2 the power scheduler has been working well, so I don't think the issue is with my computer setup, but rather my MediaPortal settings.

With MP Client running (in the home screen, no video/tv running, not active recordings) the computer does not go to sleep automatically and I can't manual put it to sleep from the MP menu. If I shut down the client the computer does go to sleep.

Can anyone see a problem with my settings that would be causing this?

Thanks
Andrew

Re: Power Scheduler issue

Hi andy,

Your logs would likely tell you what's stopping MP from putting the PC to sleep. You may find that the MP client is recognising something as user input, and therefore resetting the idle timer. I've seen reports of this a fair few times on the forums ..... frequently it's an input device (wireless mouse/keyboard, etc.) that just keeps sending some kind of signal.

The settings certainly look OK (I notice you've got the "only standby when MP is at home screen", so I assume you're actually putting MP back to the home screen before waiting for it to go to sleep?)

Cheers,
Craig

Re: Power Scheduler issue

Hi Craig,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I'm going back to the home screen before waiting for the pc to go to sleep. I figured that the logs may help, but I haven't had a chance to look at them. Will have some time to go through them this weekend.

Incidentally, should the idle timer have any effect when I try to put the pc to sleep manually? I know it didn't (or didn't seemed to) in MP V1.0.2 (ie I could put the pc to sleep manually within seconds of turning off live tv: I didn't have to wait 5 minutes first).

Thanks again for your reply.

Re: Power Scheduler issue

Ok, I've run MP in debug mode and the problem is still occuring. Log files attached. At approximately 2010-06-10 21:15 I tried to manually sleep the pc from the menu on the home screen of MP client. In the error log there appears to be an exception occuring at this point. Hopefully someone in the know can make sense of the logs.

Thanks
Andy

I've noticed now also that the PC doesn't go to sleep automatically even with MP client not running. When I went to bed last night there was an active recording. I shut down the client and left it recording. This morning when I got up the computer was still on.

Hi,

It would be good if someone could give me some feedback on my logs. Is this a bug in MP or just a configuration problem? If it's not something that can be easily fixed then I would like to know so I can go back to MP 1.0.2.

Thanks
Andy

From your logs it appears that you have not enabled PowerScheduler in TVService. Is that true?

In a single-seat setup PowerScheduler needs to be enabled and configured on both server and client.

Have you restarted TVService after enabling PowerScheduler on the server? If not restart TVService, the post logs using the 3rd option of Debug Mode, so the start-up sequence of TVService is included.
