Power Scheduler Putting PC To Sleep Even When Being Used!? (1 Viewer)

On my single seat setup, TV Server's Power Scheduler is hibernating my system even when I am actively using it (reading MP logs whilst moving the mouse for example). Has anyone come across this before? Logs attached as it just happened.

Enabling the MediaPortal Client Power Scheduler has no effect on the above behaviour.

I have had this behavior for a long time, I have always expected it to be the normal behavior. I always set up TV-server so that if iexplore is running the computer doesn't hibernate. Perhaps not ideal but it works. So in my case simply start Internet Explorer when using the computer “normally” and turn it off when ready.

This is by design. You have to manually add all processes you also want to disable stand by.

Personally I think it is better to stanby the system with the remote power off button. I see no real point in MP going to stanby in XX amount of minutes in single seat setups.

Are you 100% sure about this? I remember reading that keyboard/mouse activity is also accounted for?

i just want MP to go to standby(s3) if im not using it for 30mins(sounds like a good round number)...but stay on if its recording something

Can add a third wish? - A power up from S3 because a scheduled recording taking place.

alright i did a super complete uninstall(prolly dont need to remove databases as well but anyway)

install fresh MP 1.1.0 final and everything works ...odd

PowerScheduler will not put the PC to sleep if there is user activity WITHIN MEDIAPORTAL .... but PowerScheduler doesn't know about anything that you're doing outside of MediaPortal itself (eg. moving mouse or using keyboard).

If you want to be sure that your PC stays on when you're doing certain other things, then do as dhasselqvist suggests - add in exception processes that will stop PowerScheduler from putting the PC to sleep. For me, I just add in one particular app as an exception, then when I'm working on the PC (outside of the MediaPortal) I just make sure that app is running all the time and the PC will remain on no matter what else I'm doing. Then when I'm all done, I close everything else down and restart the MP client ..... after the idle timeout the PC will go back to sleep again.

Thanks for confirming craigparris1. Out of interest, why do you restart the MP client when you finish working on the system?

Oh, I just mean I start it again - I run MediaPortal in full-screen mode for my TV, so when I need to do stuff in Windows I close MediaPortal down. That's all!
