Power Scheduler (1 Viewer)

So ive selected to record my first series automatically, expecting power scheduler which seems to be configured correctly, to wake up at the right time and begin recording. Well it seems i was wrong, the HTPC was off for the entire show, which is very disappointing since i intended to grab the whole series on the computer, in full HD.

In the BIOS wake on PCI, LAN, Keyboard etc are all selected. I can wake it using a magic packet with Wake on Lan and it all works fine, but for some reason power scheduler couldn't do anything. I didnt even seem to get some kind of notice in the recording management that it missed a recording, which is rather stupid.

So is this because it was shutdown, not hibernated or put into standby? OS is XP Pro SP3, motherboard is Asus M3N-EMH HDMI. Running RC3. The HTPC is used secondary to the PVR for various reasons, so it cant be in standby all the time.

I would, but since then i've had MP crash due to ending the process (various reasons), which i assume overwrites the logs.

I figured i was going to get some kind of confirmation that when you shut down power scheduler can't wake it back up, only hibernate or standby or something.
If it should've woken it, i'll try and reproduce and get logs when i have time.

even the .bak files may give information needed.

That's correct - PowerScheduler can only resume the PC from Standby (or Hibernate) mode for a scheduled recording. Also, you must allow PowerScheduler to put the PC to Standby (or Hibernate) mode prior to the scheduled recording, so that the PC can be scheduled to wake up.

It will not work at all with Shutdown.

Exactly the confirmation i was looking for (even if it's not so good news).

When you say power scheduler must put it into hibernate/standby, do you mean that if i manually standby/hibernate it won't work? Not exactly sure what you mean...

That's correct - only PowerScheduler must put the PC to Standby for the wakeup to work.

That's a bit frustrating. The HTPC is often on so other computers can grab media off it over the network, it will be just sitting on the home screen. This means that i cant have powerscheduler on auto standby/hibernate on homescreen otherwise it would shutdown in the middle of playing a video file on another computer.
Is there no other way to make it work? This makes no sense to me, surely its possible to manually invoke powerschedulers hibernate/standby function?

Even in a normal TV watching environment this would be a problem. I'm finished watching a movie, return to the home screen and select hibernate. I turn off the TV etc, but then tomorrow it's not going to wake up and record a show i've scheduled. Instead i would have to turn off the TV and wait for powerscheduler to time out and do it by itself.
No matter way i look at it, this makes no sense.
