I have been using the ffdshow audio decoder mostly, and I have it set to sent all DTS/AC3 out over SPDIF. This works well and the receiver shows that its getting Dolby Digital/5.1 when I watch BBC HD.

I noticed last night that the audio sync was slightly off.

So I decided to change to the PDVD 8 Audio Decoder (assuming the using a PDVD Video and Audio decoder might sync things up).

So the sync is better, however the audio is not being sent as Dolby Digital (according to my receiver).

Any ideas?

I have set every adudio setting in PDVD to SPDIF, I have set the prefer AC3 option, I have configured the Direct Show filter to SPDIF etc.

Has anyone had this issue and resolved it? Known bug? etc..

I just double checked the directshow settings and seems its reverted to 2 channel stereo. i've set it to spdif (remotely from work) and will check the output when im at home later.

UPDATE: Ok so I set it to SPDIF, but after viewing the channel it has set itself back to 2 Channel Stereo. Ideas?

I have exactly the same problem. It can work ok for a short while, but after switching between SD and HD channels the speaker setting jumps back to 2 channel. Haven´t found a solution for this yet...

You'll have to update to the very latest MP 1.0 SVN (21720), but Ambass has made dramatic improvements to TV channel changing and A/V sync problems with the patches here https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/development-91/zapping-rtsp-improvements-test-plz-55181/index9.html, so you might want to try it in conjunction with the FFDShow audio decoder again.

Thanx for the input, will try it later today. It´s been really frustrating when you get Dolby Digital text shown on your speaker system, only to have it disapear after a couple of channel changes...

Finally! Decided to test one more thing before using SVN+patch and it worked. Now the sound stays as Dolby for HD and normal channels that have Dolby, and you can even switch to not Dolby channels and back without having the PowerDVD Directshow filter reverting to 2 channel output
The trick was to set the MPA decoder settings to S/PDIF and setting de AC3/AAC/DTS/LPCM Format to PCM32, also unchecked the downmix to stereo box.
Still having some minor problems with no sound, but that should be fixed with the https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-rtsp-improvements-test-plz-55181/index9.html patch.
