Powerscheduler sleep behaviour (sleeps PC regardless of activity) (1 Viewer)

Hi, I have recently got around to properly configuring TV on my mediaportal setup. I have only one machine with both client and tv server installed. I have powerscheduler configured (both client and TV server plugins) to suspend the PC after 1 hour. I have disabled the sleep only if on the homescreen because I use the machine for general web browsing etc, so mediaportal client is not always running and I'd still like it to sleep as if the windows sleep timers are still enabled (which I set to never sleep in the power config). I do not have 'Forced shutdown' enabled.

It works well as long as I never sleep the machine manually which I know is a requirement. My problem is though that it will sleep the PC regardless of whats happening on it. I can be surfing the web, or creating a rar file or doing any normal stuff on my machine and it will just go to sleep regardless.

Is this expected behaviour or am I expecting too much? I understand the logic if mediaportal where always running, but I'd expect the timers to 'restart' if there were some interaction between the user and the pc (mouse usage etc), like the windows sleep timer would.

Hi

You should just use https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...on-1-2-5-7-mediaportal-1-2-x-1-3-alpha-87446/ in Desktop mode, which will allow you to use Windows Power settings to determine when it goes to sleep.

Be aware there's a serious problem with PS++ and MP 1.2.1 at the moment though, so if you aren't using 1.2.2 already you should wait for a new version of PS++.

Hi. I saw the plugin but didn't understand its use as one exists in the standard installation. I will have a look at it and see how I go.

If I upgrade to the latest MePo release from the other week I take it is fine for use?

Yeah, PS++ has more features than the default PowerScheduler installed with MP.

I can't guarantee that you won't have any problems with MP 1.2.2 as I'm still using 1.2.1 myself and am waiting for a compatible version of PS++ but the author has tested it with 1.2.2 so it should be fine.

Not sure. There's a client and a server plugin, but the tv server plugin alone should be all you need to stop the PC going to sleep whilst recording/timeshifting. Have you tried to install it? I suggest you ask in the PS++ thread if that doesn't work.

I just updated MePo to thde latest version and also installed the new test release of Powerscheduler++, thanks for the heads up, will see how it goes

FYI. the new test release has 4 basic settings once installed (mpei). All the settings are made in the TV server config and one of the four default setting is dedicated server. Maybe this will be of use to you. You can still do advanced config as I noticed by default (with the desktop setting) it was set to sleep during EPG grabbing and my grab takes longer than my sleep timer length so its worth having a poke about.
