It's probably me who was misinterpreting and needs to apologise
I think I was looking at the wrong logs. I was looking at Mediaportal.log, which I thought PS++ wrote debug messages to and couldn't see any indication in that, in the afternoon, that PS++ was allowing standby (by Windows). Having checked the tvserver.log, I can see that it says throughout the day "System is idle and may go to standby".
I still wonder whether the "TvTimeShiftPositionWatcher" could be causing problems though, as it doesn't seem to be correct for that to be appearing at various times during the day, after TV was stopped around 10:00.
