Hi all,
I have to apologise for not attaching log file but you will see the reason.
The HTPC was working fine, recently installed 1.2.2 version (clean install), single-seat.
I previously used a plugin called "sleeptimer", very basic interface, you get two buttons and pressing one of them or the other causes the PC to shut down after 1 hours, respectively 2 hours. I have used this for years but it appears not to be compatible with MP 1.2.2; I need to be able to let the tv record for some time after I go to bed, without having it run until morning after the recording was finished.
I have decided to activate the built-in plugin PowerScheduler and set it to 5min, both the server and the client and it appeared to work OK. It was set to "shut down" (not to hibernate or sleep). The problem started when I tried to close MP in order to access the configuration utilities. Closing MP causes the PC to shut down instantly. It is not a controlled shut-down process, the screen gradually fades to black (like going into a sleep mode) but the next second everything is off. No noises, no fans running anymore, all is completely off. At start-up, the PC shows the standard windows message for the situation when shut-down was not performed correctly.
I wanted to deactivate the PowerScheduler, but I could not reach the desktop screen.
So I restarted in safe mode, hoping this would not start MP. It did not, but starting TV server config utility caused the SQL server window to pop up, the password I knew was not accepted, then it finally accepted it but could not confirm the connection and gave an error, Client config utility generated more error windows as well, and none of them actually launched. Started PC normally, MP launches at startup (it is set to do that) but no channels are workiong anymore, the Tv Guide is not loaded, and whatever I do 10 min later it switches off again. It does not matter if it is on Home screen or not, it just switches off by itself.
I assume starting it up in safe mode and trying to launch the config utilities or the SQL server messed up the installation. Do I have to re-install MP again? I suppose I can start up in safe mode again and remove MP from the "start-up" list (msconfig, etc...) so I can access the desktop and launch the config utilities to remove PowerScheduler. Is this the way to go?
Too bad "sleeptimer" plugin does not work anymore, if someone reads this and can fix that plugin to work with MP 1.2.2, it would be wonderful. Until then (if I can fix my MP), the PC will run all night long just to complete 30 - 60min of recording after my "bed time"...
Many thanks for any reply or ideas.
