Hi all,

Have already promised myself as a future user and hopefully a developer/tester.

My Panasonic DMRE050 DVD Recorder is playing up in not reading DVD-R's at the moment so I am stuck in terms of being able to record things and keep my TiVo trim.

So in the meantime, I am creating WMV files. My questions relate to this:

1/ I am creating them in 640x480. Is this too high res/low-res?
2/ Are WMV files "readable" my MP (I'm sure they are), and how integrated is this format?

Unfortunately, I have to wait to get some free cash to invest. And it has to be in one big swoop, as Insight/DABS rip you off for delivering to the Isle of Man. But as soon as I get the cash ....

If you mean your recording them on your Tivo and playing them on MP then

    1) 720x576 is native PAL and 720x480 is NTSC so they would be *more* ideal.

    2) Works fine, just play them back in my videos.

    Thanks Callifo,

Surely PAL would create massive files? How do you guys achieve storage of this?

I was looking at a 1Tb NAS device from Buffalo. Is this suitable for use with MP? Does it "stream" fast enough over a wired/wireless connection using PAL/640x480 settings?
