Running 1.4 fine. At some point pre-record of 1 minute before suddenly changed to 1 minute after all on its own. I went into TV server configuration and set one of my series to pre-record 2 minutes before and it actually started to record 2 minutes after the hour. The pre-record is acting like exactly opposite what it should do. Where to look to debug this.

    Hello and welcome Rob :)

This would be extremely strange behaviour. Are you sure there wasn't a back-to-back recording and you didn't have enough tuners to record both programs simultaneously?
    Consider this case...
Pre record and post record set to two minutes.
You have show A set to record from 7pm to 7:30pm and show B set to record from 7:30pm to 8pm.
If you have only one tuner and the shows are on channels which are not carried on the same physical channel (frequency), what should happen is the following:
    1. TV Server will start recording show A at 6:58pm.
    2. TV Server will try to start recording show B at 7:28pm, but this will fail because the tuner is still being used to record show A.
    3. TV Server starts to try to start recording show B every 15 seconds.
    4. TV Server will stop recording show A at 7:32pm.
    5. TV Server will immediately start recording show B at 7:32pm.

    Does that make sense?
    Could that be what happened?

Where to look to debug this.

You can follow the instructions for non reproducible problems (ie. option 3, export existing log files), and then just post the zip file here.

Problem solved. I feel kind of retarded. The computers clock was off by 2 minutes. All my computers except the HTPC were set to get their time from time.windows.com and the HTPC was set to get it's time from time.nist.gov. I changed it to get it's time from time.windows.com and we will see what happens. I guess I should have started with the simple things first.

Well I completely understand the case of back to back recordings and MP handles that very well. I choose an example in my post of a program not back to back to eliminate this possibility. I also used the TV server log to verify the recording giving the most grief was starting 1 or 2 minutes before the hour. The log indicated it was and that led me to investigate the computer clock being wrong.

I love my media portal. I started with snapstream years ago, then used the windows MC and now am on MP. Thanks for your help.

Excellent... and no need to feel silly about it either. The smallest things can and do trip everyone up on occasion. I'm just glad the problem is solved. :)
Thank you for reporting back, and merry Christmas! :)
