Why can't you navigate to a programme on the guide and press record as you do in media centre? If you press REC on remote it wants to record whatever channel you were watching last no matter where you are in the guide! To record in MP you navigate, press ok and then ok again on a selected transmission date. Can this be changed?

You probably need to map your record button correctly because I can go to any program and press record then just select ok on which date.

    Thanks for your reply.

My remote is a HP MCE-compatible one and every other button works as expected. I'll have to look into this and i'll let you and others know :)

Had a look at the mapping. REC is set to Action, Record.

    Any ideas?

Which guide do you use? The fullscreen one (EPG guide) or the mini guide.
I think selecting and pressing record only works on the large one. When you are in the mini guide he records what is shown at the moment, I think.

No I use the full screen one only.

I tried it on my main HTPC thats setup the same (although my bedroom HTPC is running 1.5 pre-release and my main HTPC is running 1.4 full).

Remote mapping under 'record' are identical. Its a wierd one!

    Any ideas?

Some MCE compatible remotes aren't perfectly compatible. For example I had some which had problems with record and guide keys.
The only possible solution was some program (don't know how it was called) which showed me that the remote doesn't send standard mce remote keys but some keyboard keys instead. I used Eventghost to map these keys to the real mediaportal record and guide keys. That is all.
I can only recommend Eventghost to try around with such problems.
