Hi,

I've been using MP for ages and I just love it! Unfortunately I've started to get some hick-ups after going to the 1.2.0 (screen freezing, slow response, etc.). I would like to go back to the version that was running smoothly on my Intel D525MW with XP Pro but can't remember which version was the best. (probably 1.0.2)

I don't really need tv server or any other fancy features you guys have implemented (even though those are great for heavy users). I'm just using MP for recording and watching tv and I guess that has been possible from the beginning.

Has the system requirements increased on some version or has it always been the same. Is there a list (simplified) of changes & improvements during these versions?

Which version is the very basic but still stable for single seat installation?

Hi.
With your hardware you can't watch interlaced TV (SD is interlaced and make heavy use of GPU or CPU during playback) without hick-ups. I can not believe you had a real working version on this ever. As this board is not that old you can't have a too old version of MP. E.G. the TV Server is necessary since ages, if you want to watch TV...
A lot of improvement last versions of MP had was regarding lower resources consumption so most recent one is the one to test.
Your hardware is a acceptable solution for a TV server only but not for a client or singleseat.

If you really only want to watch TV I think you better look for Windows Media Center. This one did not use so much hardware, but I can't believe your GPU is strong enough at all... Get yourself an 4GB RAM (maximum available on your system) and try Windows 7 MC..
But the better way is to change hardware to an ATOM/ION System or an AMD E350/450 witch has the better GPU at all..

I used to have a higher spec setup so "the good old days" might be with that one. The beauty of my current setup is that it's almost dead silent while only 2.5" HDD is humming there and everything else is passive. Believe it or not but I'm 110% satisfied with the playback performance even when recording at the same time. I might have to try clean Windows install without all those installs and see if it helps. There should be 4 GB memory even though XP can only see 3,2 or something.

I tried Windows MCE once but it's too picky about hardware and especially DVB-T sticks I have so I'd rather stay Mediaportal user. Win 7 licences are still bloody expensive and I'm trying to keep cost for my HTPC reasonable.

I might take a closer look into suggested hardware if there are passively cooled itx models available.

Especially the last one is a really strong solution in this category.
I don't know with ones are available in your country but this should be a good point to start searching.
