Problem at start; VMR9 outdated? (1 Viewer)

Hi

I just reinstalled my computer totally and are now on from scratch. After installation of MP(which went wonderful, no problems) i get this error message at startup of MP.

Following is shown in the popup:
Microsoft VMR9 handler outdated!
Your version 6.5.2600.2180 of quarts.dll has too many bugs!
Please check our Wiki's requirements page.

Of course i went there and cheked what might be the problem, but didn't find anything that I would be missing.
I haven't done too many changes in MP Configuration, since it's recently installed.
After some googleing and of course searching this forum I don't get any hold on the problem. Only thing i have understood is that VMR9 is some sort of decoder for video?

Hope someone can help me!

Its saying you need the DVBFix downloadable from above post.

If quartz.dll is outdated you've patched your XP with all available updates.

Paranoid Delusion: I downloaded the fix, it ran through the installation great but failed on two things, don't know which ones. The error pop-up is still there though...

rtv: i haven't downloaded all the updates for XP, because my system goes slower if many updates are installed, and therefore gets a bit hard to play HD-movies on. I'm running on XP professional SP2 for now on.

I've got the same problem. quartz.dll issue. I'm not using a tv card. Previous release of MP worked fine and I was excited to try this one. I was happy that it carried over all my config info but when it starts it hangs on dx screen. Funny thing when I end the task (VRM9 outdated task) it continues the loading of MP until it hits the home screen then crashes. Video drivers are up to date, but windows updates have not been done as I don't like them. Running xp sp2. If there is some hard evidence that this will fix it I'll do it but I don't want to bog my machine down with a bunch of windows updates, since this is a laptop and reinstalling is a major pain. Any help/experience appreciated.

From the manual:

Supported operating systems:
* Windows XP 32-bit Edition with service pack 3
* Windows Media Center Edition 2005 with update rollup 2
* Windows Vista 32- and 64-bit with service pack 1

So - no support for SP2 :sorry:

Well, I updated to sp3, and it still doesn't work. I'll see about posting the logs it a bit.

I've got my version to work after a while with the driver to mygrphics card updated. The thing is, though, that i had to update to the second last version of it, not the newest but the one before.

This might just be your failing part too, I do not know, but wanted to share it either way

So hope you get it all to work soon!

well this is goodbye for a while. Media portal 1.0 doesn't support my laptop's video card. I'm going to try and revert/reinstall the last version I can find before it went to 1.0 until I get another computer.
