Hello there!

I got a pretty weird problem: I can neither turn the sound up or down nor mute it if I am listening to music or radio. But I can control the sound if I watch TV or videos. I made a log and it is attached and below there are the steps to reproduce. I was using the Maya skin, but using B3W didn't make it better.

1. Watch TV --> sound can be controlled, so far OK.
2. Listen to music --> can't control the sound at all, stopping the music with sound muted (it is not muted but I told MP to mute it)
3. Watch TV again --> No sound, since it's muted as I told it to, unmute and there it is again. I can control the sound.

You see, I can tell MP what to do with the sound, but it doesn't effect the music I am listening to.

I hope you can follow the steps and what I mean. Thank you.

EDIT: I found out what causes the problem: Setting "Upmix stereo to 5.1/7.1" in MP-config will cause the problem, if I leave that option unchecked I can control everything allright. That problem came up with RC2.

    Re: Problem controlling the sound

I cannot reproduce this. In my system I can control volume normally everywhere.

Do you use the keyboard or a remote to control the sound? if using a remote, did you check that the mapping is correct?
Does this happen always when listening to music, regardless of which screen you are one? i.e. start playing music then switch to Home. Can you control the volume?
Related to the above: does it happen on specific screens?
Does this happen only when you select "Wave" as the volume control method, or does it also happen when using "Master"?

    Re: Problem controlling the sound

I am using a keyboard only and I cannot control any sound related to music on any screen.

I have only had a quick scan of logs but just to confirm
    • You are using BASS player for music
    • You have no DSP items setup
    • You are using FFDShow for audio in TV. Is this set to do anything like upmixing / encoding as DD etc?

also if you go into the mixer with all the different volume controls, none of these are muted?

    Re: MyMusic stops playing

I got a another problem with MyMusic. I can neither turn music (or Radio) up or down nore mute it. I am using the keyboard and no remote, so I can't tell if this is just a keyboard issue.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?

Me too. With my Logitech Dinovo Mini I may use the volume for video playback not for music!
Initially I was thinking that it depends to the PureAudio plugin...but after reading your post....

Merged from other thread. If you are using PureAudio then you will loose control of volume in most circumstances (ASIO bypasses the mixer where the volume is adjusted)

Can you confirm if you have a problem without PureAudio plugin installed. If it works with standard player can you post on the PureAudio plugin forum (ASIO music player - MediaPortal Forum) else if it is still not working can you post back here with logs?

    Re: Problem controlling the sound

Hi confirmed disabling the PureAudio plugin (and disabling the Asio control in the Music option) the volume control back normal. I have some little problem to report the log but tonight I try to post something!

EDIT: The problem is related to Asio4All installation! Disabling Asio4All the Pure Audio plugin the control volume works!!! Sorry...
