I am having problems setting up my basic cable signal using the TV server configuration in Media Portal. I am using Windows 7 64 bit and a Kworld USB tuner UB435-Q V2 and I have the latest drivers installed. The software that came with the tuner ArcSoft Total Media 3.5 finds all the basic cable channels and works good. I cannot find any channels when I scan using Media portal.
Media Portal list 4 devices
1. DVB-IP Media Portal IPTV Source Filter
2. ATSC BDA 2875 TV Tuner
3. DVB-C Tuner for Windows Media Center
4. Radio WebStream Card (builtin)
I am using device 2. I check the "Tune QAM instead of ATSC (requires a cable TV connection)" checkbox and I have scanned all of the QAM tuning frequencies. Every scan finds 0 TV signals.
I would expect Media Portal to find the same channels that ArcSoft Total Media found. What am I doing wrong setting up the TV signals Media Portal? I have attached the log files.
Thank You

    Hello and welcome Willobee :)

First, thanks for taking the time to report the problem and provide your log files and the system details. We really appreciate it! (y)

    I am using Windows 7 64 bit and a Kworld USB tuner UB435-Q V2...
I recall seeing other threads with similar comments...
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/kworld-ub435-q-v2-tuning-and-recording-qam.106051/

    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/scan-doesnt-work-on-kworld-atsc-usb-stick.70759/

    Summary:
    • There is a compatibility problem with this tuner.
    • Other HTPC software such as N-PVR have the same problem.
    • MediaPortal + XP + UB435-Q V2 may work
    • If you tune a channel in Arcsoft Total Media first, the tuner starts to work in MP... which suggests something needs to be done to load/initialise the tuner.
I'm absolutely willing to look into the problem and see if I can figure out what is going on, but this is difficult and extremely time consuming without direct access to the tuner.

Are you willing and able to allow me to access your server (using TeamViewer or RDP) to see if I can get the tuner working?
If yes, I'll send you a private message so we can co-ordinate. I cannot give any guarantees that I'd succeed, but I'd do everything in my power to make it happen.

So, are you up for the challenge? :)

Yes. Send me a message and we can set something up to work on the Kworld tuner.

MeanwhileI have tried Media Portal on another PC that is using an AverMedia A188 dual tuner PCI card. This PC is my HTPC and I would like to use this one as the server.

The AverMedia card shows up as 2 devices "AverMedia 176x BDA ATSC Tuner". I scanned one of the devices and found all of the basic cable channels. I launch the Media Portal software and the Titan GUI appears. I click on TV with my mouse and a menu pulls out. I try to click on TV in the pull out menu and the menu disappears. If I use the keyboard and can use the right arrow key to select TV on the pull out menu and press Enter. At first I received an unknown error. Since then when I press enter with the TV menu item selected nothing happens.

Am I missing something? I would have expected the software to list the channels it has found and allow me to select them and watch TV. Do I have to setup a TV guide before I can watch TV?

This computer is also running Windows 7 64 bit and I have attached the log files.

    Thanks

Titan is not designed to be used with a mouse. The "default" skin works much better in that regard, and there are other community/third-party skins available to choose from as well.

No, you don't have to set up a TV guide (though there will be no program listings unless you do that).
According to your most recent log files:
    [2013-07-21 22:46:46,879] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - GUIWindowManager: Could not find window 1

    ...

yes

no

    ...

So, the TV plugin is currently disabled.
I can see you've configured the TV server, and it looks like you were attempting to use TV more successfully in the earlier log files.
Please enable the TV plugin in the plugins section of MP configuration, then restart MP and try again.
