Hi guys,

I have problems playing some MP3. Indeed, when I add them to the playlist, they are successfully added, but they can't be played...

Note that Windows Media Player can read them with no problem...

Is there any reasons why some MP3 will play fine while others won't?

yeah, DRM'ed crap might only play when using one of the external player's plugins since that copyright playback license would cost thousands of dollars.

offtopic: Cool! You've listened to the Gathering! Anneke, the girl singer of the band, was my youth-love (when I was about 14). I thought only Dutch people listened to the Gathering :)

I have a similar situation. An mp3 that played in mediaportal until I changed the ID tag. Now it still plays in all audio players I've tried except mediaportal.

In all cases we need a log and in "file xy does this" cases we need the file itself, too.

    Ludoj,

    i've downloaded your song.
It plays very well, without any problem.
it is a valid MP3 file, with correct tags and mp has no problems at all playing it, also the tags are read correctly.

I'm using the BASS audio engine for playback.

You need to give us more information about your setup, as well as Mediaportal.log to see, if any error cropped up.
P.s. i'm using the latest SVN build for may test.

I'm usinng MP 0.2.2.0 SVN 12443. I can't use the latest one as I'm also using MCE replacement pluggin and it appears that it has not been updated for the latest SVN :-(

Anyway, here is the contents of the error.log file
    Code:
    2007-01-15 21:29:32.984375 [ERROR][6]: DVBGraphBDA:CreateGraph() FAILED capture filter not found
    2007-01-15 21:29:56.968750 [ERROR][MPMain]: PlaylistPlayer: *** unable to play - H:\Elton John\Elton John - Someone saved my life tonight.mp3 - skipping track!

I'm not using the BASS filter because I'm having problem reading DVD See here...

I've tried to enable the BASS filter and to play the file, and it works, but not when I use the internal dshow player :(

The problem you were referring to, with no S/PDIF output with BASS is solved since last week.

However, i was able to reproduce the problem on my system in using the DShow player.
Never used it for a long time. :)
I'll have a look into it and let you know.

There is somwthing wrong with the file itself.
I've tried with Graphedit and couldn't connect the File filter with the Mpeg-I Stream Splitter.

It is most probably the picture, which is causing it.
I was removing it with a Tag Editor and the file immediatley played within Graphedit and MediaPortal as well.

I've used ID3-Tagit for changing the tags.
Tried as well with "The Godfather", but there it didn#t work.
so most probably you need to use ID3-Tagit.

Not much we can do programmatically here, as it already fails when adding the filters.
