Yes, it does. The cable goes from the tv card to the sound card intput.
The sound is provided by the "line in" source.

    Hi again mareks99

Unfortunately it seems that TV Server does not support your card. TV Server doesn't support any card that *requires* a connection from the tuner to the soundcard. I only found out about this after I first talked to you. I tried very hard to add support for a similar card here, but I got stuck. You can find more of a discussion here.

    I apologise for this :sorry:

    Hi,

    There is nothing to apologize.
Thank you so much for trying!:D

What I understood is that a card requires hardware enconding not software? Am I right?
And the sound can't be provided by external wire..

So I would like to ask you for help once again.
The idea of my HTPC was to be a cheap SD divx and mp3 player under the tv.
After a while I wanted to add TV card to watch tv and record it. (Time shifting would be greate).

There is not a lot of analog tv cards that have hardware enconding on a second hand market.
So i would like you to help me chose one.

The one I found on our polish "ebay" is very old but supporting hardware enconding card from Leadtek Winfast PVR2000
Here are some details about the card.

Is this card going to work with MediaPortal?

Not quite right. Software encoded cards are supported, but only if they don't *require* the cable connection to the sound card.
There are some cards that use software encoders that *don't* have cable connections at all (I have one of these). Some have an *optional* cable connection but can work without it. Both of these types of cards are usually supported. The audio is sent to the soundcard through the PCI/PCIe bus...

Having said that, hardware encoding is almost always better than software encoding (for real-time like TV).
    - better picture quality
    - better software support
    - lower CPU usage for video capture/TV

I can't *guarantee* anything, but the specifications look good to me. I would certainly be here to help if you had trouble. There is a much better chance of getting it to work than a card with software encoding.

So the requirements is sending sound by PCI/PCIe bus?

I understand, you can't guarantee anything but do you think there is bigger propability to make it work?

I'm going to buy one soon so will post here how it works.

...and yes again. A *much* bigger probability.

I look forward to hearing back from you. :)

Im' searching through the internet for a tv card and I found this:

    AVerTV Super 007

I don't know nothing about hardware or software enconding but the quick guide manual on the website shows there is no need to have external sound wire!
The auction auction says the same.
    What do you think?:)

    Hi again

I think it would work, but it is definitely uses software encoding as you can see from this thread. I'd recommend the earlier Leadtek over the Avermedia one...

    Hi again!

I just got the new Leadtek Winfast PVR2000 LR6632.
The card is dedicated for HTPC.
Audio is transmited by PCI bus and the card supports Hardware Enconding!
(No additional sound card wire required)

I installed the card in my HTPC, configured TV-Server and everything works fine but not perfect.
I don't know if MediaPortal uses Hardware Enconding because the video playback is not so smooth.
I know that my hardware is not the fastest but those are only SD chanells!

Could you please help me configure this card right?
I attatch screens from graph studio and saved graph.
    Thanks!
