Problem with correct TV Settings DVI/HDMI (1 Viewer)

Hello, i am a new member and use this forum for the first time. I have a problem with my sony kdl40s2030 lcd tv. The tv has a native resolution of 1366x768px. I am not able to set exactly this resolution in my graphics card. I always user 1360x768. The effect is, that i have a black border on the top, bottom, left and right of my picture. When i turn the resolution to 1920x1200, the borders disappeare. I tried several settings in the catalyst control center with 50hz and i tried some settings with powerstrip...without success. The major problem is a little blurred pricture...

The last 7 years i used a linvdr with a technotrend dvb-s with hardware mpeg encoder als rgb out. The picture was perfect.

What can i do to resolve these peoblems?

Have you tried adjusting the overscan settings in catalyst control center (assuming this settings page exists for the X1650, and your TV is recognised as a DTV or HDTV by catalyst control center) ?

By default, the drivers underscan the output if it thinks a TV is connected (to compensate for the overscan that TV's normally have) - this would produce the effect you describe.

I tried 720p with 50Hz and the picture is better. I also tried the cyberlink mpeg decoder instead of the built in mpv decoder. Here my experience:

cyberlink mpeg decoder with deinterlacing NONE: unsharp picture and non smooth movement
cyberlink mpeg decoder with deinterlacing BOB: unsharp picture and smooth movement
cyberlink mpeg decoder with deinterlacing W.... (i do not remember): sharp picture and non smooth movement
cyberlink mpeg decoder with deinterlacing BEST: sharp/unsharp picture and smooth/non smooth movement

All tried settings are nonsatisfying... Do you think an other graphics card (e.g. Nvidia 8500GT) can resolve my problems?

I changed the graphics card and installed temporarily a ATI Redeon Sapphire X1950Pro. The picture is perfect and not unsharp! Thats fine. Now i will use a final card. The x1950 hat to be installed in my desktop computer for video editing. What card with hdmi out can i use?

Try looking at the ATi HD4350, HD4550 and nVidia 9500GT - you should be able to find cards with HDMI output built-in, otherwise use an DVI->HDMI adaptor (it's better to use the specific ATi adaptor with the 4350/4550, for nVidia any adaptor will do).
