I have been having problems with stuttering HD-channels for a long time, and it seems pvkleeff has found the reason for this here : https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/watch-edit-videos-104/problem-hd-channels-live-recordings-41173/

Just poking around in the sourcecode, I found that H.264-video is hardcoded to 720x576 in DirectShowFilters/TsReader/source/mediaformats.h

Since I have no problems playing the HD-recordings in Windows Media Player or watching live HDTV in FireDTV, and the graphs look exactly the same (except input resolution), I guess this must be the problem.

I have no other serious problems with MediaPortal, but this bug annoys me since I can't watch EURO 2008 in HD :)
I can confirm your problem Jallahman, same here..
I referted back a couple of TvServer's (think May somewhere), and
there the problem doesn't exist.
(and same as with you, FireDTV etc. is fine)

This might be important information for people who want to watch EURO 2008 in HD within MP.
I'm going to try this evening.

I think I have this problem as well when watching ITV HD. It works at normal framerate for a few seconds but then slows down seems like it's running at about 10-15fps and very jerky.
Check your FPS with Shift-1 (on the right side, near VMR9).

I cloned my working machine onto the other and now they both happily work fine, showing 25fps and about that on the average as well.

I also have problem with HD channel when using EVR render on vista (hardware accel), I only get sound and a black screen. Software render (software codec/wmr9 render) works fine

I did, but it doesn't render it the same way as either MP or WMP does.

    I does,

File > Hali > Powerdvd > WMR render
________> FFDshow audio > default DS device

This results in software decoding. (as HA only works with EVR render)

I tried connecting to remote stream when "playing" in MP, but it didn't find any.

I think that my problem may also be related, though I cannot confirm at the moment.

If this is a bug that's reported in the opening post, I guess you shoul post a bugreport so they can work on it.

? I have no idea what you'retalking about...
How can I check the framerate in MP? When I hit Shift and 1 nothing happens.

I have a problem with some HD Channels when watching tv or watching the recordings.
The Channels I record from are either 1280x720 (720p) or 1920x1080 (1080i) resolution.
How can you tell, I haven't found a way to see this in MP...
When I use the ffdshow or MPC codecs the channels stay dark. When I use the PowerDVD codec they give me an image but the codec has trouble keeping up with 50 fps, you see the framerate drop to 35 (or somewhere in between) which gives me stutter when watching.
How can you tell, I haven't found a way to see this in MP...
While watching the graph MP makes while playing these files I noticed that the TSFileReader incorrectly identifies the format of the file as 720x576  (see attached jpg file for an example), whereas other players correctly see the file as 1280x720. Somehow the PowerDVD codec corrects this problem to display the image (in the graph you see 720x576 in the video-in pin and 1280x720 in the video-out pin of the PowerDVD graph properties), but gives me the fps problems.
How can I see a graph in MP? I haven't found a way to see this in MP...

You can't see the graph in MP, you need graphedit for that. When you play media in MP you can use graphedit to connect to the remote graph to see the one MP created.
