Synopsis::

I have a problem with tv and video in MediaPortal. When I watch tv the quality is so bad it makes no sence using MediaPortal. Using the WinTV2000 software tv looks good. I also have another problem which might be related. Whenever I watch a video (dvd, video files) the text on screen becomes almost impossible to read. Anyone know how I can fix this?

    Hi,

    unfortunatly does the quality control not work for the 350. So you have to turn it of in Configure->Television->Cards->Edit->Quality.

    So you have to use an external program like the Hauppauge Tweak Tool to set the Bitrate. (Eg. VBR 2000 average / 4000 peak).

    Also make sure, that you use the latest drivers. I can recommedn those from SHSPVR.

    HTH, Flip.

    Thanks! I remember turning it on, but never thought this was the cause for my tv problems.

    This didn't help with the other problem I have though. Every time I start a video (or go to My TV) any text visible on the screen becomes rough and edged. As soon as I stop the video the text becomes clear again. This really annoys me so I hope someone know how I can solve this?

    I have the same problem too. i also have ATI xpress200 onboard graphics, is this just a coincidence?

    The text and video looks like its running at a really low resolution but when the video stops the text is back to normal again.

    I get the same thing on Windows MCE. And i am connecting to a UK PAL widescreen TV via a VGA to RBG SCART cable.

    Playing video files full screen in windows media player works great and the quality is easily as good as a stand alone DVD player.

    I hope somebody knows whats going on here its got me beat.

    Hi,

    in another board, i got the answer, that it could be a problem with the newest ati driver for onboard grafic and the exclusive directx mode (problems since 6.2)
    if u turn off the exclusice dx mode in the mp setup, u get no problem with the grafic, but the video will have tearing. at least in my config.

    i now use a svideo cable, with a 720x576 resolution, and the tv mode in the ati driver enabled.

    u get a crystal clear desktop and mp, and no problems with the grafic.
