On just one analog schannel (A&E), occasionally certain TV shows will have sound, while most shows on the same channel have NO sound. It seems that when you first change to that channel, I do hear sound for a 1/10 of a second or so. MP does not crash, just no sound. Since MP keeps running, I didn't attach a log report, but I can if needed. I've changed & played with every setting I could find under codec, rendering etc. for MP & TV-Server. By the way, if I connect to the TV directly A&E sound is fine for all shows.

HELP!

Thanks in advance...

    Hello and welcome pertnear :)

Since MP keeps running, I didn't attach a log report, but I can if needed.
Please always post log files for problems like this. It doesn't matter if MP keeps running or not. We still need the info in the log files in order to be able to help you.

Thanks for you quick response & suggestion.

I ran MP in debug mode to build log file. I changed channels back-and-forth to the no-sound channel. In Debug mode I had sound except for 1 time!

When I ran MP normally, it went back to no sound.

    Thanks for your help!

    So just to confirm...
    A&E is AETV, right?
Do you remember which change had no audio?

There are no obvious errors in the log files... which suggests encoder or codec problems. Strange that debug mode seems to be more reliable for you, but I wonder if it is coincidence.

Yes, AETV & I'm receiving it as analog. It's not a coincidence because the same program in De-Bug mode immediately didn't work in regular mode.

I changed the channel back-n-forth in debug mode & only 1 time out of maybe 10 I didn't have sound.

    Thanks for your help!

I repeated the debug test. This time I had no sound in debug & regular mode on AETV. When I changed channels back & forth, I had sound on AETV for about a 1/10 second it seems. Attached is the new log file.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello again pertnear

As previously mentioned, there is no obvious problem.
I will have to examine the log files in minute detail in order to attempt to identify what is going on.
For this reason, I need you to be more specific about your tests and results.

For example, in your latest log files I see:
    1. Start MP 2013-05-12 21:04:51.
    2. Start AETV 21:05:15.
    3. Switch to full screen 21:05:37.
    4. Switch to TCM 21:05:43.
    5. Switch back to AETV 21:05:51.
    6. Switch to TBS 21:06:01.
    7. Switch back to AETV 21:06:13.
    8. Switch back to TCM 21:06:23.
    9. Switch back to AETV 21:06:34.
    10. Switch back to TCM 21:06:49.
    11. Switch back to AETV 21:06:57.
    12. Switch back to TBS 21:07:05.
    13. Switch back to AETV 21:07:13.

This is not meant to be a criticism, but when you say "When I changed channels back & forth, I had sound on AETV for about a 1/10 second." I think "how the heck am I meant to know which change he is referring to. 2, 5, 7, 9, 11 or 13... or maybe all... or some combination?

So please... can you be much more specific and intentional about your test method/approach.

Here is my test method from the last log file I Posted.

    1) Start MP in debug mode.
    2) change channel to AETV - no sound.
    3) Using my WMC compatible remote I press "Channel +" to go up a channel.
    4) I then verify that I have sound.
    5) I press "Channel -" to go down a channel, back to AETV - no sound.
    6) Repeat changing channels away & then back to AETV to see if I can ever get sound.

BTW: The AETV channel is between TCM & TBS on my channel list.

Each time I change to AETV channel from another channel I get an instant of sound, then silence. If there is a preferred testing method let me know. Perhaps run in debug, change channel to AETV & let is sit for an hour?

    Thanks for your help!
