    Hi,

I've recently moved over from 7MC to MediaPortal aided by Robbo100's excellent guide on AVforums, things have gone well so far, but I have just hit my first major problem that I hope somebody may be able to help with.

My area in the UK is moving to DVB-T2 transmissions next month, so I have added a new TV tuner in preparation for this. I'm using a PCTV nanostick (290e) which is an external USB device, as I have no free internal PCI-e slots.

The hardware installs and automatically picks up drivers OK and when configured with the TV-server tool it picks up all of the current Freeview channels. However when I use live TV in MediaPortal all of the channels stutter, with the BBC channels being the worst.

I've de-installed and re-installed, but still have the same problem. I've tested the Tuner with 7MC and it works fine with no stutter, so the hardware is OK.

I suspect it may be a conflict with the other tuner cards in the HTPC, so I have disabled them in TV-server to see if this has an effect, but now get the message "No free card available"

I've run out of ideas. Can anybody help please?

TV log file attached. System specs are under my information.

    Hello and welcome David

The reason why you're getting the "no free card" message is because the BBC 2 channel that you're tuning is being tuned with a satellite tuning detail. Since your satellite tuners are disabled, there is no tuner able to tune the tuning detail - hence the message. Maybe you've combined different channel sources?

Regarding the stuttering issue: what would really help is if you could post full logs following the procedure here:

The tv.log file by itself isn't that helpful for stuttering issues.

I have a similar tuner setup (but without the sat stuff) - 1 x Dual AF9015 USB + 1 x PCTV290e USB - and it's always worked fine in MP 1.2.3 - so I don't think there is any intrinsic compatibility problem with TV server and the 290e (at least on a 32 bit system - not tried it on 64 bit Windows).

Check that nothing else is trying to access the 290e e.g. 7MC or any Pinnacle software, and try moving it to another USB socket. Have you got much other USB stuff connected ?

Thanks for your quick responses, which prompted me to have a look at the combined channel settings.

I had combined the Freeview and Freesat channels and it was actually the Freesat channels that were stuttering . This is nothing to do with MedaPortal as I have problems with my satellite feed at the moment - trees in the way.

I removed the DVB-S cards and Freesat channels, re-enabled all of the DVB-T/T2 tuners and re-scanned the Freeview channels and everything works - no stutter.

    Thanks again for your help.

    David
