Synopsis::
The only Codec that gives me goos results for sports TV is NVidia PureVideo. The PureVideo Decoder settings is having a check box "use hardware acceleration".

When I check it I am having good fullscreen TV but in all menus with TV preview I am having stuttering.

When I uncheck the hardware acceleration there is no stuttering. But the TV picture is not as good for fast scenes ...

anybody else?

(I tried also the latest SVN but immediately switched back because there are at least 5 new probelms ... )

thanls+regards

I don't know if this is related, but using Purevideo in Mediaportal I'm getting very high CPU usage - 70-80% This doesn't happen in other media players, where the CPU usage is more like 20%.

TV quality and menus are fine though (and so they should be for that level of CPU-thrashing  )

When you say you're having stuttering on the menus with TV preview - do you mean the TV preview is stuttering, or the menus/animations?

It could be to do with the rendering of TV non-full-screen, have you run Mediaportal windowed rather than full-screen to see if the stuttering happens when you're watching TV?

Have you tried the registry settings for nVidia cards listed in the tips and tricks forum?

No problem here using nvidia codecs, and i'm running the latest svn

If your hardware specs are middle of the road and similar to mine, then you should only be getting 16-25% cpu running MP fullscreen, with timeshifting on.

Elf: stuttering in the menus. For example when I go to the EPG I can click 2 - 3 times button down then everything stalls for 2 seconds. Also the TV picture freezes. The sounds makes then funny hangers. Instead of "what the fuck" it says "what the "fu-fu-fu-fu-fuck".

I am always in fullscreen MP as I have a MP-only machine. I never run windowed.

As stated somewhere in the metioned thread all of this registry hacks are meanwhile accessible through the Codecs settings.

Paranoid Delusion: did you check or uncheck the "use hardware acceleration"?

By the way: I am sure that it is not caused to high CPU load. Also the disk is not very active. It must be a problem of the Codec (as it is not when I uncheck the hardware acceleration).
    thanks+regards

Are you sure this is not because the tvguide.xml is being imported ?

hehe ... you mean the other thread where the both of us already discussed a while before?

No, no ... the EPG problem is "solved" now (or "worked around"). If you enter MP when having downloaded the new program you have to make sure to go to TV and wait long enough to give MP the time to import the EPG. Then it's done ...

That problem here is independant. I easily can reproduce it by checking and unchekcing the "use hardware acceleration" box in the PureVideo settings...

ps I'm the sad bastard that uninstalls MP, before installing new svn, cos had to many side effects if i do not (unrelated maybe).

You must ensure that "use ffdshow post processing" is not checked to keep the benefit of nvidia "hardware acceleration".
You should check that before anything else.
