I'm a long term FFDShow user. I don't use it for MPEG2 (TV), but I use it for AVIs & MKVs. The great thing about it is that you can configure upscaling, denoise, deblocking, & all sorts of post-processing options within it. It can really make low bitrate AVIs look great, & it's the best MKV decoder I've used.

I don't use SAF - I use LAV CUVID for MPEG2, FFDShow for pretty much everything else.

The MPC audio decoders (with SPDIF passthrough) handle pretty much everything except DD+ (which I have FFDShow configured for).

Gday Logifuse

Thanks for your help on this. I really appreciate your advice.

So where can LAV CUVID and FFDShow be downloaded from?

Is it simply a case of installing them (assuming they're executables?) and then configuring them?? How is configuration done?

Once installed is it then a case of configuring MP to these settings? Any suggestions for settings in MP?

If for some reason something goes wrong can I uninstall them??

I htought I might try your suggestions and then SAF6 after that.

You're a champ - thanks

regards

Thanks hoborg

you're a champ. So is it simply a case of installing SAF6 and then selecting the correct options in the MP's configuration app?

Regards
JCK

If you only want LAV filters, these can be installed via MPEI from desktop\MP GUI, a reboot is necessary to correctly register as with all filter installations.
