I have problem that I can't use rewind and forward functions with some movies. MPEG-2/TS videos are working smoothly, but with MPEG-4/AVC videos problem is that screen updates only about every 15 seconds and with DIVX & XVID videos screen is never updated. In all cases time is running just right and video continues from right point when it played normally again, but these functions are useless if screen doesn't update.

With my earlier HTPC all worked fine, but I think problem started with my new setup. I use all the same codecs: CoreAVC, ffdshow, Cyberlink PowerDVD for different videos and AC3filter for audio. Only thing that has changed is CPU. Earlier I used old AMD and now INTEL Core 2 Duo. Anyway problem occurs only with MediaPortal. Rewind and forward works fine if I use PowerDVD as front-end. I have tested latest version 0.2.3RC1 with newest SVN-build, but problem still remains.

    Can we have some specifications please, especially relating to what kind of Graphics your system has, ie onboard, nvidia, ati.

    It does sound like graphic related problem, not refreshing quickly enough and possibly causing the problem.

    If running in windowed mode with task manager running, what is the cpu and memory usage like when you FF one of these problem video's.

    Thanks

    Thanks a lot PD for your interest. I tried to fill system specification sheet, but I´m not allowed saving it :(.

    Here is the most important data:
    CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E6400 (2,13GHz)
    Memory: Kingston HyperX 2x1024MB (2GB) 800MHZ DDR2 DIMM
    Motherboard/Chipset: ASUS P5B-Plus/Intel P965 Express
    Video card: Asus EN7600GS SILENT/HTD/256M PCI-E (NVIDIA 7600GS)
    -Driver: Forceware 94.24 (latest)
    Audio: Onboard SoundMax HD Audio (ICH8-family)
    -Driver 5.10.01.6110
    HDD #1: Seagate ST3320620AS SATA300 320GB
    HDD #2: Samsung HD501LJ SATA300 500GB

    OS: XP Pro SP2 + latest updates
    MP: 0.2.3 RC1 + latest SVN
    -Skin: BlueTwo

    Filter graphs:
    VIDEO
    -MPEG2 (PS&TS): MPEG-2 Demultiplexer(DVD: DVD Navigator)->Cyberlink PowerDVD->Vobsub filter->VMR9
    -MKV/h.264: Haali splitter->CoreAvc->Vobsub filter->VMR9
    -AVI/Others: Avi splitter->ffdshow->Vobsub filter->VMR9
    (Yes, I have tested without that vobsub-subtitle filter)

    AUDIO
    -AC3/DTS: AC3filter->SoundMax
    -Others: ffdshow->SoundMax

    I checked that CPU usage for different videos and it tells a lot (I think task manager gives average number for both cores, but it shows graph separated..?):
    -AVI(XVID/MPEG-4) at play: 50% / forwarding: 80% (Core1 ~60% & Core2 peaking 100%!) -> Screen doesn't update
    -MKV(h.264/MPEG-4) at play: 30% / forwarding: 90% (Core1 ~85% & Core2 ~95%) -> Screen updates sometimes
    -TS(MPEG-2) at play: 12% / forwarding: 22% (Both cores loaded equally) -> Screen updates fine and rewind & forward works smoothly.

    Memory usage isn't problem: >1,4GB is always available. Obvious is that graphic card HW-support for MPEG-2 makes it running fine and with low CPU usage. Those complex MPEG-4 coded videos are problematic.
